The house
Rivatou offers comfortable and cosy accommodation for up to 4 people. With two bedrooms, a fully equipped dining kitchen, a spacious living room and the choice of a sun or shade terrace. The two bedrooms are equipped with double or single beds 90 x 200 or 180 x 200, as you wish. These bedrooms have air conditioning and their own bathroom.
A smaller bedroom has a bunk bed of 2 x 90 x 200.
There is a recreation room with a mini pool table, an old-fashioned shuffleboard and numerous games and puzzles. Like the living room, this room has a flat-screen Smart TV with Chrome cast. Bring your own Netflix or Amazon prime subscription or cast from your mobile devices.
For hot days, you have a nice little pool at your disposal; not an Olympic-size pool, but just enough to cool off and relax and children can play there under parental supervision on the terrace under the awning.
There is a small office for when you need to combine work and holiday; workation... :-)

Le Rivatou is the holiday home that has everything you need for a relaxing and adventurous holiday in Vaour, the Tarn in France.
Located in a beautiful Natura2000 area on the edge of the Forêt de la Gresigne with old-fashioned biodiversity.
Le Rivatou is located on the outskirts of the village of Vaour, one of the cosiest villages in France, on a fenced plot of 2200m2.
In the village of Vaour you will find an épicerie, where you can buy bread, local wine, cheese and other groceries.
There is also an organic shop, with local preserves and other products such as organic cereals and olive oil, as well as a shop selling second-hand clothes, run by volunteers from the organisation Familles Rurales.
Next to the church is a building that on Friday evenings serves as a café associatif, a kind of clubhouse, where, for a membership fee of 3 euros a year, you can have a drink with fellow villagers or join the meal prepared by volunteers. On Wednesday evenings, there is a games night.

Wij hebben met ons gezin in de zomervakantie 1 week in het mooie huis Rivatou in Vaour gelogeerd.
We kregen bij aankomt een warm welkom door Marrieta en Theo.
Na een rondleiding door het mooie huis en tuin met enige uitleg konden wij heerlijk gaan genieten van een koel drankje uit de koelkast die als welkom al klaarstond!
Het huis heeft alles wat je nodig hebt!!
Het dorpswinkeltje is ook zo leuk en smorgens heerlijk warm brood! Een loopje van nog geen 5min.
Op Zondag zijn we met zn 4ren naar de ontzettend leuke markt in st Antonin de Noble Val geweest echt een aanrader
We zijn een dag wezen kanoën Mariëtte heeft dat heel lief voor ons geregeld toen het reserveren ons niet lukte het is een prachtige tocht! Wij hebben 10km gedaan
Ook zijn we weze eten in Penne, heel oud prachtig dorpje op 10 min rijden
In de omgeving is genoeg te zien en te doen maar wij hebben ook heerlijke dagen in en rondom het huis gehad! Lekker relaxed in de hangmat,zwembad en heerlijke overdekte terras.
Ook kwam er een avond een foodtruckje langs en werd er jeu de boules gespeeld achter de kerk(zie foto)
S’avonds nog een keer spelletjes gedaan in de speelkamer en keertje film gekeken op onze eigen Netflix account.
Kortom een heerlijke week gehad!

Wij verbleven een weekje met onze dochter van 7 maand en onze hond in dit prachtige huis.
We hadden een hele fijne tijd.
Alles wat we nodig hadden was aanwezig. We hadden ook een zeer goed contact met de eigenaars. Zowel vooraf als tijdens ons verblijf konden we vragen stellen en zorgden ze ervoor dat we makkelijk konden reizen met onze baby. Er was een bedje, ververskussen, een babybadje, een eetstoel..
Ook onze hond vond het fijn in de volledig afgesloten tuin.
Het dorpje is heel rustig en je kan prachtige wandelingen maken in de streek.

My husband and I stayed as the first guests at Rivatau and had a very comfortable stay. The garden is large and fenced but could benefit from more defined seating areas and while there are a few small things in the house that just need finishing touches, the new pool was very welcome in the warm weather we had! The double en-suite room upstairs is lovely and the modern kitchen diner has everything needed. All in all, a relaxing stay in the heart of the village.

Thank you for your feedback Vikki! We were honored that you wanted to be our guinea pigs. We have now created a couple of nice extra seating areas in the garden, one with a hammock among the trees. We have also now purchased the items you were missing, including laundry rack, placemats, hair dryers, coasters and cushions for the garden chairs. You are always welcome back.
Dank je wel voor je feedback Vikki! We waren vereerd dat jullie onze proefkonijnen wilden zijn. We hebben nu een paar leuke extra zitjes in de tuin gemaakt, waarvan een met hangmat tussen de bomen. Ook hebben we nu de spullen aangeschaft die je miste, waaronder wasrekje, placemats, haardrogers, onderzettertjes en kussentjes voor op de tuinstoelen. Jullie zijn altijd welkom terug.

The Tarn is a region known for its delicious wines from the Gaillac wine region, but its culinary options are at least as impressive. With an abundance of fresh ingredients, local specialities and top-quality restaurants, the Tarn is a culinary destination not to be missed.
Whether you are looking for haute cuisine or traditional dishes, the Tarn has something for everyone. There are plenty of restaurants serving local specialities such as foie gras, confit de canard and aligot, and a wide range of international dishes to choose from. And what could be better than enjoying a delicious meal while looking out over the vineyards?
The markets in the Tarn are also a must-visit for foodies. Here you will find fresh produce from local producers, such as crusty bread, ripe cheese, juicy fruit and vegetables, and artisanal charcuterie. It is the perfect place to buy ingredients for a picnic or to take home for cooking.
With the Gaillac wine region nearby, it is no surprise to find numerous wineries and tasting rooms. Taste the different wines from the region and find out which best suits your taste. And of course, you can also buy a few bottles to take home as souvenirs. A bottle will be waiting for you on arrival.
Activities
The surroundings of Vaour are breathtaking. You are here in the 'Pays de Bastides' where you can explore the beautiful fortified villages that adorn the landscape. Be enchanted by the charming atmosphere of Cordes sur Ciel, Castelnau de Montmiral, Puycelsi, Penne and many other picturesque villages that almost take you back to the Middle Ages.
Also visit the famous medieval town of Saint Antonin Noble Val, especially nice is the vibrant energy of the Sunday market, with an abundance of local delicacies, handmade products and colourful souvenirs. Unsurprisingly, Saint Antonin has been the setting for several cinema films (DVDs can be found in the house!).
But this area has much more to offer than its charming villages and markets. Take a trip to the nearby cities of Albi and Toulouse and discover the rich history and culture of these beautiful cities. Don't forget to capture this unforgettable experience!
If you come the first week of August, you'll fall head over heels for the festival 'l'Été de Vaour', theatre festival known throughout France, with a week of performances and music throughout the village. During that week, you won't come to Vaour for the peace and quiet, but you can enjoy the great, friendly and convivial atmosphere....
