The house
In our comfortable and authentic gîte l'Empereur from 1757, you will experience an unforgettable holiday. Here you will find the peace and quiet to relax, a lovely heated swimming pool, and beautiful nature with hiking trails where you will hardly meet anyone. Descriptions are available.
The gîte is situated on our centuries-old estate La Maïsou in the village Sérignac in the Lot.
Our estate of almost 2 ha has a heated swimming pool (5 x 10m), and a romantic park of box trees with a beautiful collection of statues. Everywhere you will find benches and tables to read a book or just to enjoy the quietness.
The gîte is situated on the ground floor of the main house and has its own entrance opposite the swimming pool. It consists of:
a large living room (28 m2) from 1850 with French windows to the beautiful garden
an equally large and beautiful vaulted bedroom dating from 1757 (the former stately home)
an intimate, fully equipped kitchen with spacious corner work surface, oven/microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer compartment, washing/drying combination, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, an authentic stone sink from 1850.
A comfortable bathroom with walk-in shower, a unique two-person washbasin, hanging toilet.
You have two terraces, one on the west side, one on the garden side and in the garden a separate area is reserved for you.
This spacious cottage is suitable for two adults with possibly one or two small children (sleeping with the parents).

Serignac is located on the plateau of Quercy Blanc. The area is loved for its beautiful countryside where there are plenty of routes for walking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. Serignac has its own tennis court, table tennis table, football field and basketball court. On the Lot near Puy l'Eveque there is canoe rental. At about 8 km is the Grotte de Roland. Key words for our region are peace, space and around every bend in the rural roads another surprise awaits (une surprise à chaque pas). And the friendly and willing population makes you feel at home immediately.

Allison ,Jan en hun hondjes zijn een uitstekende gastvrouw en gastheer. Het appartement is indrukwekkend door zijn monumentale bouw en de inrichting is hierop fraai afgestemd. Als je over het domein wandelt waan je je zonder er bij na te denken in een periode van héél lang geleden; de fruitbomen, de bloemenpracht, de fraai gerestaureerde gebouwen, alles draagt hieraan bij! En dat alles zonder af te doen aan het comfort. Het mooi gerestaureerde appartement, met oog voor detail, is ruim voldoende voor 2 personen (en hondjes of een kindje). Je kunt er eindeloos wandelen (fietsen) en genieten van de bijzondere vergezichten. We hebben een onvergetelijke periode doorgebracht op dit bijzondere domein en willen Allison en Jan daarvoor héél hartelijk bedanken. Een dikke pluim voor jullie allen!!

Geweldig verblijf op een prachtige locatie. Jan en Allison zijn erg verwelkomend en trots op het prachtige landgoed, en terecht! We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in de gîte waar alles voor handen was. Een fijn zwembad, leuke bbq plekken en de hond was ook zeer welkom. Een echte aanrader!
Restaurants, food & wine
Of course, you have a wide choice of restaurants: from simple but good as mother cooks to Michelin-starred, and often with a nice terrace with a beautiful view. In the village itself there is a shop with a restaurant with long opening hours (Au bout de la Rue), about 100 metres away from us, as the village is not much bigger.
There are several wine chateaus to visit: chic, friendly, biodynamic, something for everyone.
And don't forget to go to one of the famous marchés gourmands: in several villages markets are held in summer (usually in the evening) where local producers sell their products such as melon, meat (duck), cheese, wine. Usually, there are no more than 10 stands, but hundreds of people come to see them. The purchased goods can be consumed outside at long tables. Usually there is music and a tombola and it gets very late. It is not about anything but it is an absolute must.
Activities
One can visit artists; there is a porcelain factory in Puy l'Eveque, a lavender farm and there are museums and churches and castles (maybe even with a knight) to visit. After a 20-minute drive along the small roads, you can hear a world-class cello concert in Belaye.
Here you can take long walks in the middle of beautiful nature, enjoy the views and often you will not meet anyone. Well, sometimes a deer jumps the path or a fox watches who is walking by!
In the area you will find many medieval fortified towns, such as Tournon d'Agenais or Lauzerte, castles such as Chateau de Bonaguil or Chateau Biron,
For the culinary fans you are in a region of wine, nuts, ducks, plums, goat's cheese and lamb and the exploding apple pie, pastis. The goat farm also has a super view and a medal winning duck farm is about 6km away. Almost every day there is a market within a 15 km radius where all these delicacies are for sale.
In spring and summer there are several markets, flea markets, festivals, music concerts, etc.
At about 35 km there is an 18-hole golf course.
