The house
This gorgeous two story gîte has been updated to a high standard throughout but still contains its rustic charm. Inside you'll find three double bedrooms tastefully decorated, two doubles on the first floor and one bedroom with 2 single beds on the ground floor, one bathroom, a downstairs shower room and good-sized living accommodation, including kitchen diner and separate lounge.
Outside, this gîte comes equipped with its own terrace and barbecue area, ideal for outdoor dining. This gîte has a wood burner for the cooler months so perfect all year round.

Dating back several centuries, our four luxury gîtes are set in beautiful, secluded gardens around a large enclosed swimming pool, providing the perfect setting for couples, families or large group holidays.
Easy access to Carcassonne and Toulouse
Gîtes de Montcabirol is handily located a few minutes by car from Mirepoix. This lively, colourful town is truly enchanting with its central square surrounded by medieval houses, covered walkways, weekly market, numerous shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Mirepoix also provides easy access to Foix, Limoux, Pamiers, the Pyrénées and the fast roads to Carcassonne, Toulouse and the Mediterranean resorts of Narbonne and Beziers.

Schitterende plek in het struweel van de Ariège; vlakbij het schilderachtige Mirepoix met beroemd marktplein. Kate en Rich zijn ontzettend vriendelijk en doen alle moeite om het je naar de zin te maken.
Gite is ruim opgezet, bedden zijn prima. Het buitenmeubilair is wat spartaans; zou wat comfortabeler kunnen wezen. Het enige echte minpunt is de Wifi/TV: Binnenshuis is er nauwelijks tot geen verbinding. Buiten rond het zwembad was er wel ( zij het trage) verbinding. De TV heeft alleen Franse zenders. Bij een internationaal gastenpubliek zou je een wat groter assortiment verwachten. Overall echter een heerlijke belevenis

There are many fantastic restaurants in and around Mirepoix serving great local food. Here are a few of our current favourites:
Le Clos Saint Martin
This fantastic restaurant is located close to us in Coutens. It has a beautiful garden to sit out and relax over lunch but it is also very nice inside. The food is fantastic and there is a good choice.
Saint Maurice
This family-friendly restaurant is situated in the square in Mirepoix and serves a great selection of food throughout the day.
Prelude
This great restaurant takes great pride in serving food from local producers. It has a lovely shaded outside space with views over the square.
L'Autre JardinThis restaurant is tucked away but has a pretty private garden for dining. The menu is small but the food served is of high-quality. Each Friday they serve a Sushi menu which is delicious. It is advisable to make a reservation.
Le Petit Bouchon
This restaurant is situated on the main square in Mirepoix. The menu offers a great selection of local specialities along with an expansive choice of burgers!
Le Casti
Another restaurant on the main square with different lunchtime and dinnertime menus. At lunch the menu is small but the food is great, but Le Casti comes alive in the evening when they serve great cocktails and tapas food. They do not offer a separate children's menu.
La Flambée
La Flambee, situated just off the square has proved to be a favourite with our guests. This place has a wide menu choice, including a big selection of pizzas which you can also take-away. In summer it is advisable to reserve a table as the outside space is quite small.
Relais de Mirepoix & No8 Restaurant & Bar
This is a beautiful restaurant perfect for special occasions. The menu de jour served at lunchtime is really good value at 25 € per person. In the evening they offer a tapas menu which is served in the restaurant and beautiful courtyard in front of the restaurant.
Activities
If you're looking for adventure, you've come to the right place. Our region is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts with many activities to please all age groups. And the best part? Everything is at our door. Here are our current favorites:
HIKING
There are hundreds of kilometers of hiking and biking trails through the Ariège and Aude. Just step outside our doors and you will come across idyllic walking and cycling routes through some of the most beautiful scenery.
La Voie Verte
This 38 km cycle and pedestrian path created on an old railroad links Mirepoix and Lavelanet, the landscape is magnificent and you can walk in pretty villages.
The path of the winegrowers 'huts
At the foot of the Pic de Brau, located near Magrie, this walk takes you through the vineyards and the winegrowers' huts which watch over this place steeped in history.
Montségur
If you feel energetic, you can visit Montségur, a small village with its castle ruins high perched on a rocky hill behind the village. The climb is also rewarded with spectacular views.
Château de Queribus and Château de Peyrepertuse
Two castles that require a little endurance to reach; The Château de Queribus is a 14th century tower perched on a steep spur with a panoramic view from its magnificent terrace and the Château de Peyrepertuse is a ruined fortress which sits on an 800m high ridge.
CYCLING
Our region is the ideal place for cyclists with its mountains, picturesque canals and magnificent gorges. Add lively cities and peaceful countryside to the mix and you have the perfect cycling destination.
There are some great cycling races in the area this summer. Steps 11 to 15 of the Tour de France all take place in the region and the figure of sporting hatred "the most beautiful and beautiful cycling race of Blood and Gold" takes place on August 18 at Axat.
WATER SPORTS
Lake Montbel is a popular spot for fishing, water sports and swimming and is just a short drive away.
POUR LES ENFANTS
La Base de Loisirs propose un circuit de kart de 1400m pour les enfants à partir de 5 ans. Situé entre Mirepoix et Lavelane, il y a aussi un château gonflable, la location de vélos électriques et le paintball pour fatiguer les enfants.
SOINS SPA
Si vous cherchez quelque chose d'un peu plus relaxant, étant donné notre emplacement dans les Pyrénées, l'Ariège et l'Aude ont quelques-uns des meilleurs spas que vous trouverez dans le sud de la France. SKIING
The closest ski resort to Montcabirol is Ax les Thermes which is less than an hour's drive away. Ax offers a wide choice of blue, red and black tracks in the forest or at altitude. It is also an ideal place for sledding, snow biking, snake sliding and paragliding. This mountain village is incredibly welcoming with its pedestrian streets, its market, its restaurants and its shops which are therefore worth a visit all year round.
