Our location is in the tranquil countryside. However the sleepy village of St Sernin is a 3 km walk if you wish to have a gentle walk and buy a beer at the local bar. Alternatively the Bastide town of Duras is approx 5kms, easily done on a bike. Here you will find several bars, restaurants and the Chateaux which is well worth a visit. From the top of the chateaux tower there is an awsome view of the surrounding area.

Restaurants, food & wine

Duras is surrounded by vines and vineyards which run from Duras up through Saint Emilion to the Medoc and Bourdeaux.
There are a host of famous Chateau that open their doors for wine tasting. Saint Emilion offers a tour of its vineyards via a tourist train and the famous Monbazillac chateau near Bergerac, also is open for visits.
Duras celebrates its wine festival in April each year - the perfect time for a spring break!
The local vineyards produce some excellent wines, which they invite you to taste. There is also the day markets, where you can purchase local wines, cheeses, meats, fresh vegetables and many other delicacies.
There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area.

Activities

The Duras area in south-west France really does offer something for everyone. Our location is perfect for those searching for an activity holiday but is equally ideal for those wanting to relax by the pool or simply explore all the region has to offer.
Cycling - For the serious cyclists, cycle routes can be downloaded off the Duras Tourist Board official site ranging 59 – 102 kms with varying degrees of ease and difficulty.
Walking - There are many paths and routes and organised randonnes in the local area. Evenings we enjoy a gentle stroll in the neighbouring vines.
Golf- Golf is popular and we have 6 golf courses in the area, one of the most popular being the 27 hole course at Chateaux Des Vigiers.
Canoes and Kayaks - There is a Kayak club at Allemans-du-Dropt. In summer, the club offers canoe rentals and outings on the Dropt River. For the more adventurous, there are also canoe opportunities on the mighty Dordogne River.
Horse Riding -There are several riding stables in the area, and wonderful off road tracks and woodland for safe hacking with no need to ride on the roads.

Our holiday properties are perfect for fishermen to come and stay and fish in our well stocked fishing lake.
Our lake is stocked with perch, tench and carp, which we feed daily.
● our lake is surrounded by tranquil countryside and trees that offer welcome shade in the height of the sunny summer days
● we also have 2 smaller breeding ponds
● we are open all year round for those who wish to visit us in the quieter months of the year
● some fishing tackle is available to borrow for those who want to try their hand at fishing for the first time
Our holiday cottages are in the heart of the the french countryside, a few kilometres from Duras in SW France. The views are spectacular as are the sun rises and sun sets and fabulous cloud formations.

With regular flights from both Bergerac and Bordeaux our fishing lake is ideally situated for both long or short out of season breaks.

Further remarks

The night markets held in July and August are not to be missed. Here you can find yourself a seat at the communal tables, purchase local wine, foods offered by the artisans whilst you list to live music and dance the night away.
There is also a wonderful 'picnic' at Soumensac on a Sunday lunchtime, where you can sit under the shade of the trees and again enjoy locally produced food and sample the local wine, whilst the views from this hill top are magnificent. This is very popular and we suggest you go early.
