The house
Welcome to Esprit du Bocage, in the beautiful hilly countryside of Normandy; an attractive and comfortable holiday home for those who love peace, space and nature.
The country cottage has been restored using as many natural building materials as possible and is furnished with an atmospheric mix of old and new, combining sturdy and rustic with brocante. The gîte is equipped with all modern comfort and has two bedrooms, one with a bathtub on legs, a luxurious bathroom, a cosy kitchen and a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove; romantic and comfortable for the colder autumn and winter evenings. Enjoy the beautiful garden and the, south-facing, generous terrace with sun beds. The house has a private entrance with plenty of parking space.
Our gîte Le Pommier is the ideal base from which to discover all the major attractions of Normandy. We are strategically located here in the hinterland of Mont Saint-Michel, with beautiful beaches, quaint towns, natural parks and forests. But numerous cultural and historical attractions are also within easy reach. Think of the D-day beaches (Utah Beach, Omaha Beach), and beautiful historical towns like Avranches, Granville, Caen, Bayeux. The Breton cities of Saint Malo, Fougères and Rennes are also easy to visit as day trips. Even a day trip to the Channel Islands of Jersey or Guernsey is possible from your holiday home.

The gîte is detached, quietly located in a small hamlet called "Launay", which is near the village of St. Clément-Rancoudray.
The house has its own entrance with plenty of parking space and is located in a beautifully landscaped private garden with a generous terrace facing south. The house is situated at about 260 metres above sea level and has a beautiful view over the hilly Bocage. So enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the clear starry nights.
The biggest charm of this region is the space, the tranquillity and the nature. An authentic piece of French countryside that is not yet overrun by tourists. For us, the essence of holiday is an excess of time and space. Nature, faraway views and lots of time to enjoy, walk, read and eat outside: the gears go down a gear...

Whoever thinks of Normandy thinks of camembert and cider. Our region is known for its 'poiré'; fermented pear juice and similar to cider, but a lot sweeter.
We are not far from the coast here, (Granville just over an hour away) so fish, oysters and other 'fruits de mer' are widely available here.
What is much appreciated by our guests are our 'secret addresses' of small local restaurants where the 'plat du jour' is served at lunchtime.

Our gîte is the ideal base for discovering all the major sights of Normandy and only a short day's drive away, about 700 km from Utrecht. We are strategically located here in the hinterland of Mont Saint-Michel, close to beautiful beaches, quaint towns, natural parks and forests. But numerous cultural and historical attractions are also within easy reach. Think of the D-day beaches (Utah Beach, Omaha Beach), and beautiful historical cities such as Avranches, Caen, Bayeux. The Breton cities of Saint Malo, Fougères and Rennes are also easy to visit as day trips. Even a day trip to the Channel Islands of Jersey or Guernsey is possible from your holiday home.
The children will not be bored either; amusement parks, karting, zoos or swimming pools; there is something for everyone. And for sporty types and daredevils, there are activities such as bungee jumping, horse riding, climbing, golf, fishing, cycling and hiking.

Our gîte has been awarded the mentions 'Gîte de Charme' and 'Gîte au Jardin' by the French rental organisation Gîtes de France. In 2012 we won the 'Prix Coup de Coeur'.

In High Season (July/August), electricity is included in the rental rate.
Outside, 10 kWh/day is included in the price. Additional consumption is charged at 25 ct/kWh on departure.
