The house
This longère is situated in the green between Granville and Coutances at about 10 km from the coast.
The rightmost part of the house has recently been converted into a cosy gite. Downstairs is the kitchen, this is fully equipped with an induction hob, refrigerator, blender, kettle, coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine and a wood stove. And all basic ingredients (pepper, salt, olive oil, vinegar, herbs and spices, etc) are provided.
Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms (1 x double bed, 2 bunk beds), bathroom with sink and spacious walk-in shower. In addition, a separate toilet. A cot and high chair can be provided.
You have a large private garden with apple and pear trees, a Weber barbecue with fire starter and garden seat. There are games for the children.
In the garden of the owner is a swimming pool, which you can use. And of course there is WiFi.

The house is situated in the green; within 10 minutes you are in Quettreville sur Sienne, Cerences or Brehal. Here you can go for a fresh baguette or croissant but also for a pharmacy or bank. Brehal has a large Super U with fresh fish department. In Granville and Coutances you can find the large Leclerc. And also the sea and the beach can be reached within 10 minutes.

Wij, twee volwassenen en vier tieners, hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in deze gite. La Durandiere is schoon, heeft een complete, gezellige keuken en fijne bedden. De wasmachine is ook erg handig. De stilte van het platteland is heerlijk. Lekker met een boek op een ligbed in de tuin of een wandeling over de weggetjes nabij de boerderij; je komt hier echt tot rust. Uitstapjes die we o.a. maakten in de omgeving: met de boot naar de Chausey eilanden (aanrader!), Le Mont Saint-Michel, verschillende stranden in de omgeving en de leuke stadjes Granville en Coutances. Gastvrouw en -heer Florine en Joris zorgden met goede en leuke tips en hun hartelijkheid voor een bijzonder fijn verblijf!

Wij hebben een weekje doorgebracht in La Durandiere met ons gezin (2 kinderen van 12 en 9). Het is prachtig gelegen in een coulisselandschap waarin boerderijen en natuur in harmonie leven: we hoorden soms 's avonds de oehoe uil zachtjes en er loopt een vos. Het is een mooi karakteristiek gebouw waarin aan de ene kant de vakantiewoning is gebouwd, mooi modern ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. We zijn supervriendelijk ontvangen door Joris en Florine, ze geven goede tips en vertellen graag over de mooie omgeving. Het aantrekkelijke aan de locatie is dat je zo dichtbij zee bent (10-15 minuten met de auto), leuke stadjes in de buurt hebt zoals Granville en met een uurtje rijden ben je bij Mont St. Michel.

Het was een zeer warm welkom en we konden bij aankomst gelijk aanschuiven voor een heerlijke Bourgondische maaltijd.
Wat een fijne rustige plek. Onze kleine kinderen konden heerlijk spelen in de tuin.
De keuken was zeer uitgebreid. De bedden waren echt perfect.

Restaurants, food & wine
Normandy is known for its camembert, calvados and oysters. But this part also has very good meat, agneaux pre sale (lamb raised in the area just behind the dunes and thus grazed on brackish ground) and des saucisses (sausages). At any market, you will find a stall selling a saucisse sandwich. In the summer months, there are daily markets in the villages around us and Granville has a market 3 days a week. There is also a Vente Directe near the sea with fresh oysters.
In other words, there is a lot to buy and enjoy nature at home to eat or let yourself be pampered by one of the many restaurants in the area.
Activities
The house is located in the green, there is beautiful walking, cycling and there are 3 golf courses within 20 minutes drive (Granville, Saint Martin de Brehal and Agon-Coutainville).
In 10 minutes drive you are on the beach and there are many different beaches, sand / pebbles / rocks, with and without dune, fun to discover every time something new. (Saint Martin de Brehal, Hauteville sur Mer, Carolles, Jullouville).
In addition, this part of Normandy has one of the largest tidal ranges in Europe. Because of this, the mussels and oysters from Normandy and Brittany are famous. From Genets, mudflats are organised to Le Mont Saint Michel. However, you will have to return by car to really visit Le Mont Saint Michel, a very special place. Near Le Mont Saint Michel lies Alligator Bay, again of a completely different order but if you like alligators, turtles and snakes, quite an experience.
Furthermore, the D-day beaches, Bayeux and Cherbourg are within an hour's drive.
Student city Rennes is at 5 quarters of an hour driving distance and is a great, bustling city. Great for a day of shopping and enjoying a gourmand lunch. But for a delicious lunch and a beautiful city, you do not have to go far, a 20-minute drive away is Granville. Granville is a beautiful old port city, it is sometimes called the Monaco of the North. A very busy harbour with an enormous amount of restaurants and lots of fruits de mer. You can also take a beautiful walk along the old city wall with an amazing view of the sea, the port and the city. The cathedral of Coutances from the 13th century is also very worthwhile.
