The house
Holiday home Maison Van der Meer is a completely detached house (former post office) with enclosed garden with lawn, trees, shrubs, fixed barbeque; sun terrace; private parking behind the house; oil-fired central heating.
Layout ground floor: spacious, cosily furnished L-shaped living room with wood burning stove, satellite TV, Chesterfield sofa and two dining tables with 6 chairs; well equipped kitchen with amongst others oven, induction cooker, dishwasher, fridge with freezer, microwave, Nespresso, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, etc.;
toilet on the ground floor.
First floor: 3 bedrooms: two bedrooms with a double bed and one bedroom with a bunk bed and a single bed. Bathroom with shower, toilet, washing machine and dryer.
Location: 200 metres from the centre of Hambye (between Granville and Villedieu-les-Poeles) with shops and restaurant; 20 to 30 km (depending on the location) from the sea and beaches; an ideal starting point to visit for example the invasion beaches or the famous Mont Saint-Michel, but also the many nice coastal towns and the coppersmith town Villedieu-les-Poeles.

Location: 200 m from the centre of Hambye (between Granville and Villedieu-les-Poeles) with shops, bar-tabac and restaurant and on Tuesdays and Fridays there is a market; the house is situated on the edge of the agricultural village Hambye; 4 km from Hambye Abbey; 20 to 30 km (depending on where you go) from the sea and beaches. Many nice coastal towns and 9 km from the coppersmith town Villedieu-les-Poeles.
Activities
Beautiful sandy beaches, several golf courses at less than 30 minutes drive, riding school and swimming pool and tennis courts around the corner. Furthermore, there are plenty of possibilities for walking and cycling. Beautiful walking routes can be obtained from the tourist office. Parachute jumping, flying a ULM or flying a plane yourself.
Large places in the vicinity are: Coutances (Cathedral), Avranches (built on a dead volcano). What is also very interesting to see are the beautiful abbeys and castles of which Normandy is so rich. The most famous and largest seaside resort is Granville (birthplace of Christian Dior), with its many terraces, shops and casino is definitely worth a visit. The impressive Mont St. Michel is also only a 45-minute drive away. A visit to Bayeux with the famous carpet knotted by Mathilde van Vlaanderen is also worthwhile. Also an ideal base for visiting the invasion beaches on the other coast. A boat trip to the Channel Island: Jersey.

Ideale omgeving om van hier uit wat te kunnen doen. Hebben zelf weinig in het huis gezeten buiten om te slapen en te ontbijten. Maar alles was aanwezig wat we nodig hadden, lekkere bakker op wandelafstand. Bedankt om jullie huis open te stellen voor ons ☺️

We hebben genoten van ons verblijf! Een heel ruime en bijzonder aangename woning. Alle benodigdheden zijn voorhanden. Ideale uitvalsbasis voor allerhande uitstapjes maar in het bijzonder (ideaal voor de kinderen) niet ver van de zee. Een aanrader.

Heerlijk huis dat van alle gemakken voorzien is. De kinderen hebben zich prima vermaakt op een regenachtige dag in het huis en heerlijk gespeeld in de tuin op mooie dagen. Veel bezienswaardigheden in de buurt. Een aanrader voor iedereen die er op uit wilt in een prachtige regio van Frankrijk.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are several excellent restaurants in the vicinity. Normandy is known for its freshly caught fruits de mer, cider, pommeau and calvados (the Normandy cognac).
Every day there is a market in the neighbourhood. On Tuesday and Friday in Hambye and on Saturday in Gavray.
On Saturdays and Sundays there are almost all year round vide grenier and flea markets.

Reachable in max. 30 minutes by car: beach, climbing, swimming, golfing, hiking, mountainbiking, cycling, horseback riding, water sports, parachuting, gliding.
