The house
This is a real holiday! During your stay in this spacious, peaceful accommodation, you will forget all your worries. The long driveway takes you to the house, which is completely detached between the trees and the meadows. The house has a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Downstairs is 1 bedroom and a separate bathroom with shower and toilet. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, one with bathroom en-suites. The other bedroom has a separate room with sink and toilet. Outside there is a spacious terrace with garden furniture and BBQ. Deer regularly walk through the garden and as there is no light pollution, you can enjoy a beautiful starry sky at night.
So many used / 2nd hand items and materials have been applied in the house. And outside, we let biodiverse nature take its course as much as possible. Take a walk around the grounds and enjoy the peace and greenery, discover the clear stream, spot wildlife or cuddle with a donkey or pony.
We aim at the active holidaymaker, who uses Chaulieu as a base for the many possibilities and excursions in the area. You can laze around the house or go out!
On the kitchen wall hangs a map with all outings in the area: museums, golf, water sports, D-day beaches, Mont Saint Michel or cycling and walking routes.

The cottage is a natural house and is located outside the village. It is not visible from the road.
The house is located on a plot of total 8.5 hectares with trees and meadows. The owner's house is tucked away on another part of the plot and not visible from the gîte.

Restaurants, food & wine
Normandy is best known for cider, calvados and poirée. Alcoholic drinks made from apples and pears. There is also the Andouille sausage. A sausage made from organ meat made here in the region.
Activities
Normandy is best known for D-day, which marked the end of World War II. A visit to Utah or Omaha beach, the various museums or the remains of the batteries, is a must! The American cemetery in Colleville-sur-mer and the German cemetery in La Cambe are also worth a visit. It gives a small impression of the many sacrifices made for our freedom!
About a 45-minute drive away, is the medieval Mont Saint-Michel. Beautifully situated off the coast. You really imagine yourself in the Middle Ages here when you walk through the narrow streets and visit the cathedral. At low tide, you can even walk to this small city in the sea.
If you prefer to be active, you can enjoy hiking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding or golfing in the area. Fans of water sports can indulge themselves at Lac de la Dathee, about 10 minutes from the gîte. All relevant information is available in the gîte.

Bringing a well-behaved obedient dog on request. (Cleaning costs then total €75 per booking)
The house and grounds are not equipped for a holiday with children and are therefore only available for adults.
Bringing your own horse is possible on a self-catering basis. There are 2 walk-in stables available at the gîte. At the house of the owner there is a stable with 3 spacious boxes. Ask about the possibilities and costs.
