Limousin

This green area in the center of France has many natural parks. Most important is the Millevaches park that spans the departments of Creuse, Haute-Vienne and Corrèze. In winter you can practice cross-country skiing and in summer it is a paradise for hikers. One can observe otters and many varieties of birds and plants. On the Lakes of Vassivière, Saint-Pardoux and Causse, you can go fishing, swimming, horseback riding, sailing or windsurfing. A must see in the area of these lakes: the Natural Park of Périgord-Limousin and Blonde de Monts with its dolmens and menhirs.

Waterfalls, Culinary Trails, and Historic Wonders in the Heart of France

The pretty village of Gimel, with its waterfalls, is located near the town of Tulle. Following the Route de la Pomme, you can taste the specialties prepared with this fruit: vinegar, cider and pastries like flognarde aux pommes. You can also choose to follow the route of the nuts along the fields of walnut trees, and taste the biscuits or buy oil. The traditional walnut liqueur distillery "Denoix" in Brive-la-Gaillarde is open to visitors. Limousin is known for the breed of cow of the same name, but also for honey, chestnuts, truffles and red fruits that you find on the farmer’s markets, including that of Objat. During your stay you can taste the "Tourtous Limousin" the cherry clafoutis and madeleines. From a historical point of view, the Castle Road (180 km long) is particularly interesting.

You will discover all the places in which Richard the Lionheart is passed like Nexon, Brie, Coussac-Bonneval, Pompadour, St. Yrieix-la-Perche Rochechouart. See also the uninhabited village of Oradour-sur-Glane, totally destroyed during the Second World War and later rebuilt. The region has a number of "most beautiful villages in France" as Collonges-la-Rouge, St. Robert, Segur-le-Chateau, Turenne, Curemonte and Mortemart. Argentat, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, Eymoutiers, Uzerche Meyssac, Donzenac, Treignac and Aubusson are also worth visiting. Finally, do not forget to visit Limoges with its Gothic cathedral and its porcelain.
