Brittany

Brittany, the most western area of France, includes the departments of Cotes d'Armor, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan. Rennes is a very dynamic city. The temperate maritime climate with over 2000 hours of sunshine per year makes this a particularly attractive area.

In the picturesque fishing villages and seaside resorts, you can find many testimonies of the past, of Celtic history but also the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. You will surely enjoy the charm of the buildings: lighthouses, fortifications, half-timbered houses; But also the Breton folklore and crafts that you can discover in Saint-Malo, Vannes, Concarneau, Redon, Cancale, Tréguier and especially in Quimper. It is here also that the Breton Cornwall Folk Festival takes place every July. Another event not to be missed is the Fête du Livre of Bécherel, town of books. Nature in this area also holds beautiful surprises!

Explore Brittany's Beauty:

To discover absolutely: the pink granite formations Ploumanac'h dolmens and menhirs in Carnac, the marsh of La Grande Brière, salt marshes on the peninsula of Guerande, heather fields on the Monts d’Arrée in the natural parc of Armorique, and finally the Bois d'Amour, near Pont-Ave, that inspired Gauguin and many other artists as well as music composers. There are also beautiful views like the one from the Mountain Locroman over the bay of Douarnenez. From the Quiberon peninsula, you can cross to the largest Breton island, Belle-Île, with its pink granite cliffs, its numerous varieties of birds and plants and the house of Sarah Bernhardt. The Ouessant island, the island of Sein and Ile de Batz are also worth visiting.

During your trips, you can taste the local specialties: cidre or galettes, but also seafood. Particularly relaxing are the beaches of Dinard, on the island Tudy or Roches du Diable or in Brest, where the port is one of the finest in France, where you can admire the impressive bridge of l’Iroise and visit the aquarium Océanopolis.
