The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

This secluded, three double bedroom, 18th century house has enclosed, very private, walled gardens and heated pool. It is surrounded by vineyards, has stunning views of the mountains and lies about 1 km from the village of Cairanne. The beautiful Roman town of Vaison-la-Romaine with its famous market is a 15 minute drive away. Other famous Provencal towns, such as Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and the seaside, are easily reachable. The garden is well equipped for outdoor living with a 8x4 heated pool, outdoor shower, sun beds, barbecue and outdoor dining furniture. Surrounded by beautiful mature trees, it has sun right through the day - well into late afternoon and early evening. You can be in good sun or good shade, depending on individual taste. The interior is well-equipped, simple and stylish. Cooks will love the kitchen which is exceptionally well-equipped. This property is an ideal combination of great location, usable outdoor space and comfortable interior. It has a wood burning stove, good central heating and double glazing - ideal for a cosy off-season holiday/wine-tasting break.

Thanks Roderick for the wonderful review. We know that you know the area well, so your comments are very valued. Its a good point about this being a great area for biking. There are two adult bikes at the house and also bikes to hire nearby. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon! A bientot.Mike

Great Wendela that you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the very positive review. This is indeed an ideal garden for kids and dogs. It's a good point about airco. During your stay it was exceptionally warm. During 38 degrees in July we were able to keep the house cool enough by keeping doors and shutters closed. There is a choice of hard and softer mattresses depending on which bedroom you choose. Mark and Mike

We loved our time at Le Mas Du Bourrellier. Hosts are great, welcoming, helpful and friendly. The house is very comfortable with great attention to detail, and the outside space and pool are kept in wonderful condition. Location is nestled amongst the vines and is great if you want to feel secluded, but you are less than 3 minutes away from the nearest small village (by car) which has a good restaurant and there is plenty of good walking and cycling nearby.
John and Nick, June 2022 (their third visit).

Restaurants, food & wine

This area is a paradise for lovers of wine and food. Cairanne is one of the "Cotes du Rhone Village" and Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas are only a short drive away. There are dozens of caves for tasting the local products within walking distance of the house and probably hundreds within a short drive. Restaurants serving local produce are everywhere and vary from simple establishments where you can get a good lunch for less than €20, including wine, to Michelin starred places where you will pay a great deal more for a memorable experience.

Activities

Golf is a few kilometers away. Perfect for cycling - the Mont Ventoux is nearby. Tennis also available at the next village or in Vaison-la-Romaine. Painting courses in Malaucene. Yoga at the house by special arrangement.

  • Bicycle
  • Near hiking trails
  • Near riding

Further remarks

There is plenty to do in this area with a wide variety to suit all tastes:
Archeological sites in Orange, Vaison and further afield
Opera, drama and dance festivals in the ruins of Roman theatres and in the grounds of chateaus
A season of open-air jazz concerts in the local vineyards
Wine festivals in every village (as well as car boot sales)
Son et Lumière in the old quarry at Les Baux de Provence
