The house

  • Quiet, rural area

Maison Olive offers 160 sq m three bedroom accommodation with the living space centrally placed and the bedrooms situated in each end of the house. From the terrace spanning the whole width of the house, you have direct access to the kitchen, living room and two of the bedrooms. The lounge is in open plan with the kitchen and dining area and the master bedroom with an en-suite shower wet-room and toilet is situated to one side of the living room. The living room and master bedroom was newly added 7 years ago and are tastefully and sympathetically decorated with the same simple rustic flavour. The lounge has a tranquil but at the same time modern feel with a bright colour scheme and travertine floors throughout. There is a cosy seating area with a sofa and further chairs and a wood burner central in the room. From here you have an open plan dining area with a 6-person dining table and an office space tucked away in the corner. From this area you have access to the outdoor terrace via a glass door and to the kitchen, which - with two further bedrooms and a shower room - is part of the original house with all the charm that offers. The kitchen is simple but sufficiently equipped with a 4-ring gas cooker/oven, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, electric kettle, food processor, storage cupboard with cutlery and crockery more than enough for 6 persons. There is also a wooden island and an accommodating fridge freezer.

On the other side of the kitchen there is a bedroom wing, where you have another two bedrooms accessed via a hallway. You also find the family shower room with shower, toilet and basin in this part of the house.

Bedroom 1 (master bedroom) has a double bed (2 single mattresses 80 x 200 cm), a wardrobe/shelf unit for clothes, a table with a chair and travertine floor. There is access to the spacious en-suite shower room with toilet, basin and wet-room shower, all tastefully decorated with the same travertine tiles on the floor and walls as in the bedroom and lounge.

Bedroom 2 has a double bed (1 mattress 140 x 200 cm) and direct access to the front terrace.

Bedroom 3 also has a double bed (2 mattresses 90 X 200) and a fold-out single bed (70 x 200 cm). In this room you have a private sink unit and wardrobe space and access to the awning covered part of the terrace. Here you find a cupboard with hoover, iron and ironing board and other utensils as well as the washing machine. There is also a small table with a chair.

There are mosquito screens for the windows in the bedrooms.

You have WiFi internet connection included in the rent. There is no TV in the house but with a fast connection you can stream movies, watch online TV and other entertainment easily.

Maison Olive is a lovely single-storage villa, which has a rustic and at the same time modern charm both inside and outside with a well-maintained garden and a lovely private salt water pool just on the edge of the vineyards set back about 200 m from a very quiet country road. So if you want a piece of the real Provençale countryside and opportunity to relax in quiet and peaceful surroundings, this is it!

The house is situated about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Lorgues with all the amenities you would expect on a 3600 sq m plot set in a valley with vineyards, olive trees and cypresses on all sides with no immediate neighbours.

You enter the property via the well-maintained private track lined with old olive trees on each side to give the privacy and tranquility this place has to offer.

From the terrace at the front of the house you have lovely views over the pool, garden, the vineyards and the terraced forest-clad valley beyond. The garden have many exotic plants like cypresses, palm trees, flowers and other plants in pots and the stonewalls surrounding the pool area and the dining terrace add to the country feel.

The 8 x 4 m gated salt water pool has a spacious surrounding terrace with plenty of sun loungers and parasols to help you enjoy the sun and also provide shade when needed.

The garden is very well maintained and blends seamlessly into the Provençale surroundings beyond. There is a dining area with a charcoal barbecue placed on a raised graveled part of the garden between the pool and the house with views to the pool and the surrounding area with the all-important shade provided by a big tree. On the terrace in front of the house you find comfortable seating with tables, chairs and a sofa.

This house provide the perfect setting for a family to enjoy peaceful local surrounds combined with the convenience of being not too far away from the village for shopping, dining and the famous local market on Tuesday - a must when visiting Lorgues.

In Lorgues, about 5/7 minutes by car, you find Lorgues tennis club and just outside Lorgues on the way to Vidauban there is a pony club where children can take lessons. The region is superb for cycling enthusiasts (mountain biking and road cycling) There is also the possibility to rent bicycles (please ask for further information). Lorgues has several playgrounds for children and a climbing.
The beaches and Gorges du Verdon are less than 45 minutes by car from Lorgues. In Lorgues and in the neighbouring medieval villages you can visit several historical sites, a large number of local markets and several festivals under the plane trees. For sports enthusiasts: golf, cycling, hiking, swimming, fishing, canoeing are possible in the surroundings - ask for the latest updates at the Lorgues tourist office.

    Wij hebben zeer genoten van onze vakantie in deze vakantiewoning.
    Alles was voldoende aanwezig in de ruime woning in een mooie rustige omgeving.
    Op zeer korte afstand en tijd ben je aan een bakker en in een meer toeristisch dorpje.
    Goede locatie om naburige dorpen te bezoeken, activiteiten te doen, supermarkten te gaan.
    De contactpersoon heeft gezorgd voor een snelle en vlotte communicatie.
    Het enige minpuntje dat er was, is misschien het wachten op warme water in de verst gelegen badkamer maar dit werd uitgelegd door de eigenaars.

    Heerlijk huis, voorzien van alle faciliteiten, mooi gelegen aan de bosrand en tussen de wijnvelden en olijfbomen. Qua ligging ten opzichte van Lorgues, het dichtstbijzijnde dorp
    en omgeving, ben je zo in het dorp om te shoppen en toch zit je heerlijk in de natuur buiten alle drukte. De omgeving zit vol met schattige dorpjes, bergweggetjes, bossen en watervallen.
    De perfecte uitvalsbasis voor wielrennen, trailrunnen of andere outdoorsporten.
    Het huis heeft een mooi zwembad, relaxte badkamers en ruimte genoeg om heerlijk weg te dromen tijdens je vakantie. Kortom top plekje en zeer goede prijskwaliteitverhouding.
    Wij komen zeker weer en raden dit huis aan iedereen aan!

    Het gezellige huis ligt prachtig in een idyllische omgeving met wijnakkers en olijfbomen.
    Een oase van rust en toch maar enkele kilometers van het centrum van Lorgues. Het huis biedt alles wat je nodig hebt en de 2 nieuwe, moderne badkamers maken het helemaal af.
    In en bij het mooi aangelegde zoutwaterzwembad is het heerlijk verpozen; de verrijdbare grote parasol zorgt voor schaduw op de plage.
    De buitentafel onder de lindeboom nodigt uit tot lang natafelen.
    Kortom, wij hebben genoten van een heerlijke vakantie.

Restaurants, food & wine

You find numerous bistros and restaurants in Lorgues and surrounding areas for all tastes and budgets from the famous restaurant 'Chez Bruno' just outside Lorgues known for its truffle-based specialities, the good quality 'La table du Pôl' with traditional French cuisine to the friendly and atmospheric Italian restaurant 'Main a la pate' just up from the centre of Lorgues (pizza and pasta dishes). Here you can eat outside in the warm evenings, children are welcome. There are plenty of local vineyards and chateaux nearby, where the staff is happy to show you around and let you taste their wines.

Activities

In Lorgues, about 7 minutes drive from the house, you find Lorgues Tennis club and just outside Lorgues, on the road to Vidauban/Les Arcs, you have a pony club, where children can have riding lessons. The area is wonderful for biking, both mountain biking and road biking. There are possibilities for renting bicycles - please ask for details. Lorgues also has good play grounds and an adventure (climbing) park nearby.
The beaches of the Mediterranean coast and the Gorges du Verdon are all within 45 minutes drive. In Lorgues and in the nearby medieval villages, you can visit plenty of historic sites as well as enjoying the various local markets and festivals organised under the old plane trees so typical of the region. For sports lovers: golf, cycling or mountain-biking, walking, bathing, fishing, canoeing etc. can be found in the surrounding area - please ask for updates at the local tourist information in Lorgues.

We are Malene and Phil and we are looking forward to service this house in it's first season with us. Please feel free to contact us, if you have any questions about the house or the area. We live in Lorgues during the season and are on hand to help you with any information you may need during your stay. We speak English, Danish (Malene) and French (mostly Malene).

The rental price includes gas, water and electricity.

Arrival is Saturday between 16.00 and 19.00. If you are delayed please let us know.
Departure is Saturday before 10.00. It's also possible to leave earlier.

Obligatory end cleaning is paid on arrival and amounts to €130.

Optional bed linen is charged at €12.50 per person and bath towels (not to be used by the pool) at €10.00 per person paid on arrival.
The deposit will be paid back to the tenant after successful end inspection of the property, at the latest 7 days after departure by bank transfer.

Cancellation:
We recommend that you take out a travel and cancellation insurance to cover any loss of funds from cancellation.
