The house
The house is situated on the edge of Brignoles, on a hill hidden among the trees.
It is located on a property of about 0.5 ha and it is very private with beautiful views over a small valley, woods and mountains in the distance. No neighbours that might bother you!
The property is wooded and sloping, with on the lowest point the swimming pool.
You reach the house via a private drive of about 100 metres, there is a carport at the entrance.
The house is of the type 'neo-provencal' (25 years old) and in the lower house is a garage and a basement. Above is the living and sleeping area with a living room with sitting area, fireplace and dining area, followed by a (closed) kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine (Nespresso), etc. From the living room there are French doors leading to a covered terrace. There is a stereo with CD player.
From the lounge there is an open connection to the sleeping area, where there are three double bedrooms, a bathroom and a WC. Two of the three bedrooms have doors opening onto the terrace that runs along the house.
Above the seating area in the living room is a mezzanine, which can also be used as additional sleeping space (with TV ). From there a door gives access to a large fourth double bedroom with separate bathroom with shower and WC. This room has French doors to a separate sun terrace with stunning views over the valley.
In the living area there is an internal staircase that brings you to the basement and garage. Here is a third shower room, washing machine, iron etc. In a separate room is the heating system; in the garage table tennis and a croquet game.
Around the house are several terraces with ample opportunities for sunbathing or sitting in the shade. The house is surrounded by a large garden with lots of plants and flowers and a partially wooded area.
The swimming pool (10x5 meters) is located at the lowest part of the garden and is surrounded by tiles and a lawn for sunbathing (depths ranging from 80cm to 2.5m). The pool is open for use from early May to early October.
The house is equipped with plenty of garden furniture (incl. hammock) and there is a bbq.

Brignoles is originally a medieval town, which has become the main centre of the so-called green Var. It also has all amenities including a hospital.
The town has a still almost untouched medieval centre on a hill around an old church with narrow streets, gates and staircases, surrounded by lively shopping streets, squares and cafés, etc. In addition, there are large supermarkets such as LeClerc, Casino and Intermarché (within walking distance).
The major cities in the south are also all within easy reach. Aix en Provence is half an hour away, a very attractive city with many terraces. In less than an hour you are in Nice, Cannes, Marseille, Toulon or at the sea side with towns like St. Maxime, St. Raphael, St. Tropez, Port Grimaud, Le Lavandou, etc. The closest coastal town (and casino) is Hyeres at about 30 minutes.

Wij verbleven 1 week met 1 gezin en 1 week met twee gezinnen in dit prachtige, gezellige en ruime huis.
Een heerlijk zwembad, grote tuin en een prachtig uitzicht. In de garage stond ook nog een tafeltennis tafel waar we heel wat wedstrijdjes hebben gespeeld.
Een heerlijke plek voor het echte vakantie gevoel.
Mooie omgeving waar genoeg te doen en te zien is. Aix en Provence, Toulon, Cassis, de Calanques bij Cassis én de Kartbaan in Brignoles zijn zeker een bezoek waard.

Een erg fijne vakantie gehad in deze ruime villa! Het huis is groot genoeg om comfortabel te leven met 8 volwassenen. Het zwembad was groter dan verwacht, dus daar paste ook iedereen in. We zijn eigenlijk alleen voor boodschappen de deur uitgegaan omdat het huis zelf zo comfortabel was! Zeker aan te raden!

Heerlijk huis. Uitrusting van het huis heel compleet. Volledig omheinde tuin waar de honden lekker kunnen spelen/rondlopen.
Restaurants, food & wine
You will probably know that this part of the Provence is famous for its excellent rose wines. The wine houses in and around Brignoles are happy to welcome you almost daily to taste and buy wines. There are several wine domaines near the house such as La Lieue, Margillière and Fontlade, all on the way to the golf course of Barbarous.
Every Saturday morning there is a large, lively market in the centre of Brignoles, where local products are offered , such as cheeses, olives, honey, vegetables, fruit etc. and also clothes, bags and jewelery.
When looking for a restaurant, there is plenty of choice in the Brignoles region. The offer ranges from very good Provencal to French haute cuisine. In the house there is a folder in which several specially recommended restaurants are listed.
Activities
Many activities are orgnanised in Brignoles during the summer months July / August ranging from Medieval festivals to open-air concerts, something for everyone.
Just outside Brignoles is a professional kart track.
Around Brignoles there is also lots to see and experience . Well known is for example the Thoronet Abbey, a beautiful medieval convent and monastery church, where classical concerts are organised regularly.
Golf Opportunities
Only five (!!) minutes driving from the house is the famous Golf de Barbaroux, a well-equipped, very challenging 18 hole course. It is never really busy, not in the summer season nor the rest of the year (do book to be sure).The area has many other fine golf courses ( such as St. Endreol, Roquebrune, St. Maxime Valescure, Nans les Pins, Valcros, Mandelieu, Marseilles, etc.).

Further remarks
The rental seasons are:
- Low season : November to April
- Mid season: May, June, September and October
- High season: July and August
The prices do not include mandatory cleaning and linen (bed linen & towels also compulsory).
The set cleaning costs are 150 euros per rental period and the cost of bedding and towels is 15 euros per person. If you are staying for two weeks at our gite we will provide you with a second set of bed linen and towels without this additional charge.

All prices apply to season 2017. The prices for mid- and high season are including gas / water / electricity. In low season we charge 50 euros per week . For rentals longer than two weeks, we charge a special rate upon agreement . Standard changeover day is Saturday, out of season we can be more flexible.
Linen consists of duvet cover, fitted sheet, pillowcase, two towels, two washcloths and two tea towels.
Low season ( January-April and November-December): 750 euros per week.
Mid season ( May-June and September-October): 1550 euros per week.
High season (July -August): 2150 euros per week.
