The house

On the outskirts of the Marais Portevin, allow yourself to be charmed by the spirit of this recently renovated farmhouse and its lush surrounding countryside; a true haven of peace and quiet and well-being. In complete tranquility, you can enjoy a comfortable lounge and fireplace, a living area with open-plan kitchen opening onto a vast exposed terrace overlooking the valley below. A family suite with a bathroom on the ground floor and two other double bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom will accomodate family and friends. This quality restoration has made the use of ecological materials a priority. For everyone's use there is a swimming pool (12mx3m) treated with salt water (instead of chlorine) and heated from April to September; with a wooden deck equipped with sunbathing beds and an outside shower. Perfectly situated at the heart of a triangle between Puy du Fou, Futuroscope, and Marais Poitevin, a whole range of activities are available: hikes and bike rides (maps and bicycles at your disposal), horseriding, fishing in private ponds and on the river, discovering the region's rich and varied cultural and architectural heritage in towns such as Maillezais, Nieul sur l'Autize, Vouvant, etc; exploring the local produce and meeting the region's local farmers and artisans, and seeing the rich and diverse fauna around the Marais Portevin area, but also surrounding the Gâtine and Bocage landscapes.

It's a peaceful haven at the heart of the Gâtine countryside for a nature-themed holiday, a chance to unwind and enjoy the little things in life in peace and quiet.

If you are looking for a holiday in a place full of charm, like to have an ecological slant on things, feel the need to get away for a while and awaken your senses.. Le Petit Paradis offers all this and can put whole different slant to your next holiday.

Biking for fun, cyclotourism or VTT: the region is suitable for all tastes. Our landscape and local heritage are endlessly diverse and are even when one explores them on a bicycle.

With family or with friends, the bicycle is an extraordinary method of discovery which, as well as marrying fitness and health, is economical and ecological. Accessible to all, bike riding is very popular in our region and is an exciting way to meet new people.
This summer, we noticed that many of us have preferred the quiet routes, away from all the cars, where nature is abundant and the nearby locals will be more than happy to help you experience what they know best: the lay of the land.
Fortunately, opportunities to get on one's bike abound. Judge for yourself:
We have discovered many circuits running through the Gâtine, the Marais Portevin, and the medieval riches of the Vendée. More than thirty or so routes are accessible for cycling in peace and quiet. After the Marais Portevin, where the land is flat and easy to ride on, there is a new connecting route from the Vallée du Thouet to the roads of the Vendée via the bikeway (Sources from the Gâtine, le Beugnon, la Chapelle Thireuil, le Busseau, and St. Hilaire de Voust), where it gets a bit more challenging.
The terrain gets slightly bumpier, the slopes get larger, but after every turning, over each next hedgerow, there are new sights to see and your efforts are rewarded.
In the Gâtine and the surrounding region, 40-70km away, the countryside is very different and the many protected circuits are great for meeting our neighbours from all parts of Europe who come biking here on our roads.
Thanks to this silent and non-polluting mode of transport, you will gain access to the inaccessible and help preserve the environment along the way.
So, saddle up and hit the selected routes to see the sights in a nature-protected environment. It's great to get away once in a while.
