The house
General description
Pomme D'Amour is in the small rural village of St Martin des Fontaines in the Southern Vendee (Department 85). The cottage is nestled at the end of the village and surrounded by farmland and open countryside.
Pomme D'Amour is a renovated stylish, light and airy cottage. Access to the cottage is at ground level. On the ground floor lime washed stone walls ensure a cool interior with neutral soft contemporary furnishings, creating a comfortable chic space for relaxing and entertaining. The comfortable open plan lounge has 2-seater settee, 2 armchairs, coffee table, spotlights and dimmer lighting, ample plug points, porcelain tiled floor. Satellite UK tv, Wi-fi, DVD player, books, dvds, games, information pack etc. The ground floor also incorporates an open plan dining area and fully equipped kitchen. A beamed central staircase leads to the first floor bedrooms and bathroom.
Pomme D'Amour has access to our 9 x 4m below ground heated swimming pool. The pool is fitted with solar cover which is put on at night by the owner.
All accommodation is non smoking. No pets permitted. Towels are not provided. Comprehensive information packs. Cots and highchairs available. Stairgate available.
Bike hire (adults and children's) available including helmets etc. Fishing equipment is also available to hire. Prices on request.
Kitchen and dining
Dining area with table and chairs to seat 4 (window with view across road to fields). Fully equipped kitchen with Hotpoint double oven and grill, hood and electric hob, large fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee-maker, kettle, extensive quality kitchenware for six. Tea-towels, cloths, bin liners and cleaning products provided. Iron and ironing board etc.
Living room
The comfortable open plan lounge has a two-seater settee, two armchairs, coffee table, spotlights with dimmer switch lighting, porcelain tiled floor. Satellite UK tv, Wi-Fi, DVD player, books, DVD's, games etc.
Bedrooms
On first floor attractive double bedroom with exposed beam, Velux window, double bed, bedside units & lamps, shelving and hanging space. All quality bed linen included.
Second bedroom with two single beds + option of cot, bedside drawers, small skylight window, frosted window, exposed beams (low headroom), hanging space. All quality bed linen included.
Bathrooms
Large contemporary bathroom with exposed stonework and beams, shower cubicle with jets, toilet, stone sink with pebble tile surround, generous storage space, spot lights. Hairdryer, mirror, points for hairdryer and shavers. Towels not provided.
Heating
Heating is available low and mid-season. Prices on request. Heating is not provided during high season.

Garden and outside
Accessibility:-
Access to cottage is from back of farmhouse. Access into the cottage is from a sloped wide pavement off quiet village road. Gates to pool and garden area are a few metres away.
The below ground (9m x 4m) heated swimming pool has surrounding patio and sunloungers.
For Pomme D’Amour guests, dining is in our large open stone barn with large dining table, built in bbq, stone chimney and views over the pool and surrounding gardens.
Also communal covered summerhouse with table and seating for four.
Please note as Pomme D'Amour is not directly visible from the garden/pool area, it may not be suitable for parents who wish to use these areas at night.
All dining areas are surrounded by landscaped gardens with palms, large trees, flowers, tropical shrubs surrounded by meadow, open countryside, fields of wheat and sunflowers. Views from meadow over large communal fishing lake. A small area of garden/orchard is reserved for the owners.

Prachtige ruime locatie in een mooie omgeving! Het heerlijke koele huisje heeft alles wat je nodig hebt voor je vakantie. Erg handig dat er een wasmachine, vaatwasser en dubbele oven is. Vanaf je huisje loop je een heel klein stukje langs de weg waarna je door het hek toegang krijgt tot een enorm grote tuin met overkapping om te eten, heerlijk zwembad, grote tuin om te zonnen en daarachter nog een groot weiland om te spelen. Zoveel privéruimte hebben we nog nooit gehad tijdens een vakantie. De gastvrijheid van de lieve eigenaren maakten de vakantie helemaal perfect!

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad bij Jon & Karen. We werden gastvrij ontvangen. Er stond een flesje wijn en een lekker koud biertje klaar.
Het zwembad was echt een pluspunt. Zeker gezien de zomerse temperaturen.

Coast and Beaches
The Vendee Region and surrounding area has over 200 kilometres of sandy beaches, including numerous awarded blue flags; there is no wonder that this part of France is the second most visited in the whole of France after the French Riviera. Vendee France, situated on the French Atlantic Coast south of Nantes and the Loire, is a revered French destination famous for phenomenal beaches and it's laid-back lifestyle. Beaches in the Vendee are by far the most popular tourist attraction this side of the country. Several prominent western and northern ports are located within two to four hours from the Vendee, making it a short day's travel from the United Kingdom.
Many notable French events happen around the Vendee, making history an interesting component of exploring. Known today as a "departèment," the beaches in the Vendee date back to the twelfth century and possibly even further back in time. Past Les Conches—the beach that seems never-ending—and other magnificent Vendee beaches, the picturesque countryside, delicious regional food and dining, and wonderful French beaches, hotels and resorts complete an area that is one of the best finds along the western French coast.
Bound by scented pine woods and gently sloping dunes, the beaches of the Vendee are an ideal vacation spot for beach and sun lovers. The mild weather with it's famous micro climate makes a stay here even more agreeable. The excellent museums, beautiful churches, and historic abbeys offer even more to explore when visiting Vendee France.
An exciting cycling path is marked out along the marshes and mudflats, creating an avenue for experiencing the rich wildlife. Heading out for some great surf fishing along the ocean or at one of the areas lakes or rivers is also an easy feat among the extensive network of waterways.
