The house

The house is 18 m long, and is divided in 3 spaces of 30 m2 by 50 cm thick walls. On the side of the courtyard we have added a bathroom and a large veranda to the building.
The house has a large lving space with a settee around the woodburning stove. There is TV and DVD and a computer with internet connection. The high ceiling provides a spacious effect.
The open plan kitchen is spaciously designed with a workspace, a cooking area and a dining area.
In the hallway that leads to the bedrooms and the bathroom there is a toilet. The modern bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower and a comfortable bath.
Three bedrooms are furnished respectively with a double bed, two single beds and a bunk bed. On request, the box springs of the single beds can be connected to create a double bed.

La Marguerite is an ancient farmhouse just outside the town of L'ile d'Olonne, about 8 kilometers from the seaside resort Les Sables d'Olonne.
The street on wich the house is situated is nameless; it ends in the courtyart of the neighbour (a few hectares away). The hamlet which consists of 3 farms is called l' Audouinere. The farm is situated on 2000 m of land, and behind and next to the house are allso 2 hectares of meadow.

Restaurants, food & wine

In the several wine cellars in the area they sell lovely wines for small prices. On the corner of our street is the local cave Michon, where a father and son make and sell lovely wines. Wine regions are: Fiefs Vendeens, Sevre-et-Maine, Charentes.
The local drink is the Pineau and the Trouspinette.

In Les Sables d'Olonne are bizzy boulevards with merry-go-rounds, casinos, cosy terraces and restaurants. There are markets and until late you can buy your souvenirs in one of the stands., There is also sailing, surfing and diving. In summer there are activities like fireworks, concerts and a castle feast in Talmont.
There are boattrips to the island of Ile d'Yeu or you can make a trip in a canoo trough the canals in the salt winning areas, just outside the L'ile d'Olonne. The village has also a bird reserve, oister beds and a carting circuit.
Cycling is possible on the dedicated paths trough the pine forests. On the rocky beaches walking is great fun, and you can look for shells and little crabs. There are several long and short distance walking routes in the area.

Further remarks

The house is probably built between 1910 and 1920, and we have completely renovated it from 2005 to 2008, except for the thick stone walls. The house is very comfortable and has underfloor heating under the tiled floor.
