Holiday home in France
One of two individual gites in a secluded setting perched on the crest of the Viaur Gorge. A stunning, sunny building with extensive views across the region. The ideal get away, but within easy reach of the regions tourist spots when you want to get out and about. This is a very rural area and great for countryside and animal lovers. There are beautiful walks straight from the property and the wildlife and flora is inches away. The amenities are kept simple deliberately (no telephone, no wifi, no TV) so that you can really feel that you can get away from stressful modern day life for a great break. (Of course if you have a mobile and roaming you can still stay in touch when you need to).

La Cirounié is a quiet hamlet perched high above the Viaur river and gorge. L'Atelier is a surprisingly spacious gite sited down a country track on a converted farm property. It shares its grounds with a second gite (and an ancient farm house yet to be renovated). The property has immediate access to waymarked trails which criss-cross the Viaur Valley making it a perfect location for walkers and nature lovers. Basic services are to be found in nearby Pampelonne, with a doctor, Chemist, general store and Bar/Restaurant.

Restaurants, food & wine
Being on the border of the Tarn and the Aveyron you are ideally suited to dip into both departments and discover the regional cuisine on offer. Most famous is the 'Saucisse/Aligot' of the Aveyron and the 'Cassoulets' of the Tarn. There are many local restaurants available offering good local food at very reasonable prices. If you are looking for something special then the Michelin starred restaurant at Sauveterre is a must. Or the newly acclaimed L'Aromatique at Naucelle - but you d need to book in advance as it is really popular. The local wine is Gaillac - very reasonably priced and we've yet to find a poor one. If you are visiting in peak season don't miss the nocturnal markets in the local bastides - great fun for everyone. General markets are held throughout the year and there is one on offer every day of the week during peak season.
Canoes are available for hire to potter on the Viaur at the campsite 15 mins walk from the property down in the gorge. It is also possible to swim in the river at this point. Fishing permits are available for trout and river fishing in the Viaur. There are many way-marked walks which can be accessed directly from the property. Pampelonne has a couple of tennis courts - available for free use. There are 2 horse riding centers within a 15 minute drive and there is a freshwater lake 15 minutes away with supervised swimming areas and two sailing clubs where canoes, windsurfers and sail boats can be hired. There is a lovely, clean, outdoor Lido offering 5 pools in Naucelle (12 mins drive from the property) and then the big eurpoean water/adventure park called Cap Decouverte at Carmaux (20 mins drive). There is also a municiple swimming baths at Carmaux with an indoor and outdoor pool. There are many children's farms and places to visit in the area and I will be happy to help you find what you are looking for.

Whilst there are two gites on site, they are totally independent and have their own private patios. General grounds are shared and laundry facilities are housed in a shared access building.
