Les Garosses is a perfectly maintained 18th- century farm property consisting of two houses and a barn. One of these house is in use by the owners. The gite is in a quiet location at 200 metres of the village Roquecor. The house is surrounded by a garden of 6 hectares: gardens, meadows and forests with a pretty view over a valley. The area has many beautiful walking trails. The pretty garden is about 6,000 m2; half of which surrounds the gite. There are several terraces with garden furniture next to the house and swimming pool. And there is a bbq. The large pool is 6x12 metres.
Roquecor lies on a hilltop. It is a quiet and attractive village (470 inhabitants) with a well-stocked little supermarket and an excellent café-restaurant with a nice terrace. It is planned to open-up a new restaurant before the beginning of the 2018 season. On Sunday mornings there is a market where you can buy local specialities among other things. Just outside Roquecor lies hotel-restaurant Château de l’Hoste for “haute-cuisine” dining.
Several other excellent restaurants you can find further afield. Roquecor has a tennis court which is free to use for guests of Les Garosses, a ”boulou drome” where you can play ”jeu de boule” and a playing area for small children.
Montaigu-de-Quercy is 7 km. from Roquecor. It is a pleasant and lively village with several shops, a GP, dentist, pharmacist, and bank. There is a traditional French market every Saturday. There is a small lake with sand beaches and other leisure possibilities. A ” Syndicat d’initiatives” or Tourist Information can give you a lot of information about the immediate and larger surroundings.
Bigger towns in the area are Agen, Villeneuve sur Lot and Fumel. When you drive a bit further you find Lauzerte, Monflanquin and Montcuq; Certainly worth a visit. Toulouse, which we call the Paris of the South, and Albi (the city of Toulouse-Lautrec) are 75 minutes driving. Bordeaux is an hour and a half away, a city not to be missed.
The surroundings of Roquecor are known for the oldest-known inhabitants of European history. There are several opportunities to visit subterranean caves where you can admire the famous rock drawings. In the so-called "blue book" in the cottage, you will find detailed information about these sites.

Restaurants, food & wine

A delicious, french wine is Cahors. This is often drunk with another local specialty: duck. There are several opportunities to visit wineries/chateaux. Tarn-et-Garonne, especially near Agen, is known for its plum production (Pruneaux d'Agen). There is also plenty of fruit around Lauzerte (25 km.) And Moissac (35 km.). But the area is especially known for its Foie Gras. There is even a museum devoted to it.

Activities

For walkers/hikers there is a booklet in the gite with walking trails/routes.
For horse riders there are two “centres d’équestre”: one in Saint Beauzeil (4 km.) and one in Bourg de Visa (8 km.).
The area has several 9- and 18- holes golf courses. Watersport is possible in Saint Sylvestre (10km.), e.g canoeing. Parachuting is possible just outside of Montaigu-de-Quercy. Tennis court at 5 -minutes walking from gite.
