The house

Situated on the outskirts of the village, this stone building was originally built as a chestnut drying house (Cledier). Now converted into a picuresque gîte it provides accommdation for 2 people + single bed for child. It has a salon/kitchen/diner with oak parquet floor and wood burner in addition to central heating. The gîte is light and airy with a high ceiling and double doors looking out over the garden, raised terrace and view of distant countryside. The double bedroom is surrounded by a mezzanine with single divan over a tiled wc/shower room. There is a dvd player and screen & WIFI. The garden is private and has both sun and shade. The gîte has its own parking space.

L’Age is a hamlet in the area named Le Pays des Feuillardiers (country of the woodcutters). At the turn of the last century there was intensive management of the sweet chestnut copices which are still evident and home to a lot of wildlife. The land is undulating and pretty, dotted with small lakes. There are excellent way-marked paths for walkers. The cities of Limoges, Angouleme and Perigueux are within an hour’s drive.

Further remarks

There is a shared swimming pool positioned well away from the gite so there is no disturbance for non-pool users. From the well exposed, redwood cedar deck of the pool there is a long view over a pond, valley and fields where Limousin cattle graze.
We, the owners are resident on site, separated from the gite by a detached stone barn. Please contact me for information on a winter let.

We have had a delightful stay here - it was the perfect spot for us to unwind & enjoy. The almost Jurassic sounds of the countryside have kept us smiling and Steve was pleased to meet the little green frog. The weather has been perfect - a joy to be able to eat outside every evening, including using the BBQ. Driving about visiting little villages lakes, Brantome, Limoges - we loved it all It truly is a gorgeous part of France. The food at the 'Feuillardiers' restaurant was delicious - woth a visit. Thank you Diana & Derek for your warm & friendly hospitality.

Staying here in the 'Cledier' we are surprised by the quietness. One car passes a day (or was it yesterday! So Wuiet - just what we needed. The weather is good & sometimes hot but there was a solution - the swimming pool! Diana & Derek - thanks for your hospitality. Thanks also for your ideas for spending our time in this area. We will miss it when go.

We were not aware that there are still places like this where it is to quiet you can get lost in memories and in time. This part of France is one of the best places to be. We have enjoyed the nice old villages and the local people who are very friendly. It was a very good idea to change the Clédier into a gite. It turned out to be very nice and a relaxing place to be.
