The house

”LE VIGNERONS” is a truly charming old grovers house where a genuine atmosphere of harmony and simplicity offers you a real feeling of ”la France douce”
The house has been piety renovated to keep its ancient charm with old sandstone walls, tiled or polished wodden floors and exposed timber beams. The mixture of old and new things, materials and colors are chosen with taste and care to create an inspiring and peaceful surrounding.

The House
The house is an old, piety renovated stonehouse.
Groundfloor: Directly from the garden you enter the big open livingroom with fireplace, table for meals, a canape and the fully equipped kitchen (Gas-cooker with electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. With a special entrance from the courtyard there is a washingroom with shower, toilette and washing machine.
First floor: Three bedrooms; 1 with double-bed, 1 with 2 single beds that can also be made to a double bed. 1 with 2 single-beds.
The two bedrooms with doublebeds has windows with views faceing the garden and the landscape.
A big bathroom with window and a toilet.
Attached to the house (on the left at the photo) I have my private studio, completely independent, with its own terrasse etc. By periods I am staying there.
When I am not present a neigbour is taking care of the house, and will help you with all your questions.
From the street you enter the coartyard and the garden through an ancient arch. In front of the house there is a beautiful little garden.
In the garden, richly flowering with lavender, roses and all sorts of ramblers and clinging plants, there is a big table for meals, two smaller tables and a corner with sunchairs under the olive tree.
The garden offers you a wide and magnificiant view over hilly wine- and sunflowers fields, and at the horizon you can see the Corbiers montains to the east and the beginning of the Pyrenees to the south.
Villelongue is situated in the heart of the fascinating Catar region, away from the highroads, in quiet and unspoilt surroundings.
The region offers a great variety of landscape; from the hot and dry plaines to the cool and green mountains. By an endless number of small, winding roads you will everywhere find spectacular sceneries, small medival villages, abundant flowering meadows, wide green descents, rivers and woods of green oaks, pine and cypresses.
You are also in easy reach to the Mediterranean with its long beaches, to Andorra and the high mountaines of the Pyreenes.
The village
Villelongue is a peaceful genuine french village with its medival church on the hilltop, surrounded by stonehouses and narrow paths. By the church, - with a splendid view - there is a small marketplace with a little cafe, in summertime open in the evenings.
In the neighbourhood Villelongue is famous for their their local sunday markets with music in summertime, and their evenings with popular concerts by the cafe.
It has about 200 inhabitants, mostly wine producers. There are several winecaves in the village. They produce excellent wite chardonnay-wines and the speciality of the region; Blanquette de Limoux, a sparkling wite wine of champagne-type.

Gunilla was a very friendly and inspiring host, giving a perfect balance of assistance and space, which we acknowledge as quite a skill. We were greeted with a warm welcome, freshly made beds and towels and were delighted walking around this beautiful house, which combines French and Swedish features to make a charming place to stay with an incredible view. We enjoyed easy access to Limoux and Mirepoix - the Monday market in Mirepoix was a highlight. We enjoyed evenings out in the garden with the smell of lavender, and breakfasts outside with the children counting lizards racing across the wall. The kitchen is really well equipped with everything we needed and everything we used was in immaculate condition. The enormous dining table was the centre of the living space which, when we arrived had a bottle of wine and a jug of sunflowers to welcome us. We would love to return to this house.
It was so peaceful and inspiring, and the house was so well equipped with everything we needed. The quality, cleanliness and decor of the house, and breakfasts and evenings with the door open out onto the garden. The warm welcome and your help with various things made our stay feel very easy. We also wanted to thank you for the sharpness of the knives in the kitchen! This almost never happens!

Gunilla's place is wonderful for all of you who are looking for quietness, peace, sun, visits, wine and good food! We spent 6 days in family and we felt as if we were in our home. Gunilla makes us feel very comfortable. A bottle of wine was waiting for us on that beautiful table, in the middle of that very good vibes main room. Holidays were great and the place helped us a lot to feel relax. So much to say!!! Well, it is a great spot! And Gunilla's attitude is a great part of my words!
