The house
The house has recently been refurbished, a lot of care has been put in the style and coordination of the interior. We have tried to create an authentic French historical style.
It has everything you might need and the interior furnishings are of good quality.' If there is a paradise on earth, then we have found it here', is what our first guests wrote in our guestbook.

Reviews
Le Moulin d'Alzau has received 5 reviews over the past 4 years with an average of:
Simon Vollers from Beekbergen,
Tim Deschacht from Malderen,
Katrien Aerts from Baarle hertog,
Het was een geweldige week! Alles was tiptop in orde en een zeer goede communicatie! Wij hebben genoten met volle teugen! Super geslaagd!
Restaurants, food & wine
le Moulin is set between the vineyards of the Languedoc in wine region Cabardes, a still relatively unknown wine, which received its AOC label only a few years ago. South of Le Moulin are the vineyards of Malepère, Limoux en Fitou. Limoux is famous for its excellent Chardonnay and also for its sparkling wines such as the Blanqeutte de Limoux, which can compete with the well known champagnes but at a much friendlier price. The larger wine regions are Minervois (especially red) and Corbieres though; these produce excellent wines which are definitely value for money according to experts. During your stay we can introduce you to some of the famous vineyards where you can taste and buy directly from the producer.
There are several good restaurants in the immediate area, of which we have a list in the house.
France is famous for its 'cuisine' and you can certainly eat well in Aude for a reasonable price in the various local restaurants. Not far from Le Moulin are five restaurants with Michelin stars, one even at only 1200 meters. But apart from those there are many good restaurants to be found. In our guestbook we have put down all of our tips.
Fresh vegetables, herbs and a variety of fruits can be found at the local markets, such as Bram (Wednesday), Montolieu (very nice authentic book sellers village), Limoux, Carcassonne (three times a week) and many others. You will also find a list of all the markets in the area in the guestbook.
Activities
Visting castles, the historic cité of Carcassonne, old towns, sampling wines at local wine producers (e.g.. Chateau Rives-Blancs), horse riding, and for the more active guests it is possible to go paragliding, carting in the area or to go climbing in acrobatic forest route park near Carcassonne, rafting in the Pyrenees etc. The beach at Narbonne Plage is about an hour away. Our basin and the neighbour's pond are full of trout, just as most of the rivers in the area. But you can also of course simply enjoy the house, the swimming pool and the peace and quiet, the privacy, the area and the French way of life.

Further remarks
The estate of the original owner included a castle, chapel, a watermill and several farms. It dates from the early 11th and 12th century, the Cathar era. And this makes the watermill quite unique because the foundation from that time still exists.
We take great pride in our property and only want to rent it out to guests who will treat it with respect.
