The house
With a few steps you reach a vine covered terrace, where the scents of rosemary and lavender greet you. The front door leads into a luxury kitchen (without microwave though) with cozy sitting area by the fire place. The interior has the atmosphere of the traditional Corsica and modern comfort. Adjacent to the kitchen, there is a spacious lounge with TV, internet connection and a (high quality) piano. A comfortable couch near the impressive fireplace, make this room ideal for a cozy get-together on colder evenings. From this room you acces two bedrooms and bathroom with shower.
The third double bedroom is located in the renovated basement with a luxurious bathroom and a separate shower room .The third basement has 2 single beds. There is also room for cots. This apartment can be rented separately; with its own kitchen, entrance and terrace to the south; with grapevines as sun protection.
Around the house are four terraces with a perfect spot for every moment of the day:
In summer, however, the best place is the large terrace below, which is west facing, and has a breathtaking view of the rugged 'maquis'. The setting sun, the peace and scent of the maquis are a daily hug. The adjacent "summer kitchen" makes it even more perfect. In front of the house is a narrow terrace with an entrance to the basement vault (renovated luxurious apartment) and the summer kitchen. Behind the house is another terrace (pergola), facing south and slightly lower another seating area under the olive tree.
It's an original, traditional Corsican house, built on a rock with many terraces, situated on the edge of a small village community (Ferlaya, commune Monte). At 450 m altitude in the mountains and among the chestnut trees of the ancient Castagniccia. The house is only accessible on foot via a path of about 100 m, and therefore not suitable for wheelchair users. Given the many terraces, we think this house is not suitable for small children; however, all entrances to the terraces are equipped with gates.

Surroundings
The house is located in the mountains on the eastcoast (about an hour's drive from the porttown of Bastia and 45 minutes from Poretta airport). The winding road goes up about 14 kms and ends in Ferlaya. There you can park the car at the small square and walk the last 100 metres. The baker visits the village daily and for all the other groceries you can go to one of the many supermarkets in the valley.
Ferlaya is wonderfully quiet, only sounds from nature and the baker's car horn will disrupt this.
The nearest quiet beach is 45 minutes away.

Marietta en Theo from Vaour, Frankrijk,
Sascha Krinke from Dortmund,
Vielen lieben Dank!
rcpd stikvoort from maastricht,
beloftes zoals op website omschreven volledig waargemaakt, in prachtige stilte omgeving een zeer comfortabel onderkomen bij bijzonder gastvrije, aangename verhuurders die de privacy prima waarborgen
Restaurants, food & wine
Cap Sud has a nice small restaurant with specialty mussels and pizzas.
In neighbouring villages (such Olmo, Silvareccio, Loretto) there are several restaurants / trattorias where you can eat well.
Everywhere in Corsica there are vineyards and good local wines to be found. Several winehouses are worth a visit.
Activities
The village itself doesn't have any tourist facilities; except - of course - a "boule" court, where almost every night is played. Stillness reigns, only the sounds of nature and the horn of the baker "disrupt".
At about an hour's walk in the direction of the top of the Mont'Angelo there is a spectaculair climbing wall for professional climbers. Many possibilities for walks/hikes.
The nearest quiet beach Cap Sud is a 45 minute drive from Ferlaya.
Together with a "Lonely Planet" guide you will discover the wonderful diversity of Corsica!
