The house

The gite, is a self contained part of our main barn which has been sympathetically renovated using the original beams and stone work and is known by the locals as The West Wing. It’s ideal for couples looking for tranquil surroundings set in the heart of the countryside in the Southern Loire Valley.

The gite has a spacious lounge with French doors to the gardens and stunning views over open countryside and leads to the dining area, also having french doors opening to the gardens. The bedroom, has a dressing area with wardrobe and drawers and en suite shower room with hand basin and toilet.

The kitchen is equipped with a four ring gas hob, combination oven, grill and microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and all other accessories.

There is a TV with USB port (for media stick) with an English satellite box, hi-fi with CD player and connection for music devices.

A washing machine is usable in our house (a small charge per load to cover laundry products etc).

There is a multi-gym, exercise bike, sit-up machine and weights for the more energetic person.

No smoking in the accommodation but no problem outside.

The main town is La Chatre (15km) with bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, banks and on Saturday morning there is a typical French market selling local produce..

Dear Bill and Pen, we loved to be with you, the dogs and - not to forget - the chicken! Everything was perfect! The house was perfect, the surroundings perfect with many nice castles and churches and the beautiful nature. The dogs are perfect and - most important - you both are perfect hosts and warm friends! Live long and happy - whereever you wish to stay in future.

It was great having you to share our piece of France and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and the family even if they have four legs, except the chicken of course. Bill and Pen xx

Dear Pen and Bill,

I wrote a review but it's not yet there and you deserve a review because you are terribly nice folks !
When we arrived I had to do some shopping but Pen took care for a bagette, eggs, bacon, cheese, beers and a bottle of wine. Thank you so much Pen.
The house, the garden, the view, we loved it.
La Châtre, a bigger town nearby, is very nice for chopping and a good meal.
I can recommend your place to everyone.
We hope to see you again, Pen and Bill.
With kind regards,

Hans and Femke from the Netherlands

We loved to stay in this appartment. The hospitality of Bill and Pen is very pleasant, now and then a chitchat. Lot of space and everything you need.
