Surroundings

Le Puits maison is situated in quiet rural surroundings. There are two more houses in the hamlet both belonging to the same French family. The area is chiefly cereal farming. Being quite flat this is ideal countryside for exploring by bicycle.

We are in easy reach of the majority of Brittany's seaside towns and coastline, most around an hours drive. On a wet day there is a stunning motor museum at Loheac to suite all the family. Loire Atlantique is about 90 minutes and St Malo about 1hour 10 minutes plus thousands of other places of interest.

  • Rural
  • Meadows and woodland
  • In or near a village
  • In or near a town

Restaurants, food & wine

There are many restaurants in the area serving traditional French cuisine with excellent wine cellars. Booking essential. Try the French routiers for lunch. Super food, normally five courses including wine and coffee for about 12 Euros. Le Grande Halt in Meneac is a good example.

Activities

At Ploermel, about 20 minutes away, is The Lac Au Duc where golf and water sports are available. There are public swimming baths at other local towns. The area is quite flat and is ideal for walking and cycling.

Le Puits Maison is situated about an hours drive from the sea, an hour from the airport at Dinard and one hour 20 mins from St Malo. There are many beautiful sites to see in the surrounding area.

  • Near hiking trails
  • Near riding
  • Fishing
  • Water sports

Further remarks

.
This is possibly the best accommodation on the website, Le Puits Maison has a superb visitors book. Everyone that stays here has an enjoyable holiday. Roger and Sally, your hosts, live on the premises and are here to help you with anything you want to know. This is the ideal environment to have a quiet holiday. You can join your hosts for a drink and a chat on the patio if you would like. We have a Border Collie called Sadie who has a beautiful temperament.

We are open from easter to October.

Sorry but we do not accept pets. The next people may have allergies to fur etc.

Le Puits Maison boasts many prizes for the hanging baskets and floral displays over the past years. This is the reason why we do not allow ball games in the grounds but there is a park with swings and ample space for ball games only 4km away in Ménéac village.

Day ticket fishing is available at a private lake in Meneac. This is a private lake and no permit is required. Please advise when booking that you would like to go fishing so I can advise the owner.

We have had a wonderful holiday week! The house was very cosy! Roger and Carol have been helpful, kind and very generous hosts.
We were spoiled with vegetables and potatoes from the garden of Roger and the rides on the steam engine was onforgettable!

Dear Roger and Carole, you both were the 'extra' to our holliday. Thanks for the talks, laughter, jokes and the info you gave us about the places we had to visit. The automobile museum was great, Vannes was beautiful so was St. Malo. Very much enjoyed the rafting but most of all enjoyed you both and lovely Meg. We'll be back!

We keep a very nice remember of this (short) night spent in your house after the wedding as well as the time spent with us in the morning. I will try the carrot and sultana cake of the hairy bikers. Thank you for the warm welcome, for your sense of humor and sorry again for the reveille on the bugle ! Catherine & JF

It is so sad to be leaving after a wonderful 2 weeks with you. We shall never forget the curries or the BBQ's. Your natural gifts of warmth, friendship, hospitality and goodness are an inspiration and a joy. We will be back soonest for a third year.
