Château de Frétoy is located in Burgundy, just outside the Morvan, a vast nature area, not far from the best vineyards of the Côte d'Or. At only 300 km from Paris, the chateau can also be reached by train. The TGV station in Montchanin is just 20 km away. We can arrange transport from and to the station if desired.

The estate has quite a variety in elevation and has 4 ha of forest and meadow. From the terrace you have a view of a beautiful valley.

There is a swimming pool, a tennis court and a fishing pond. There is also the possibility to rent (eight) mountain bikes.

During the renovation of the castle, the original architecture has been strongly taken into account and has been maintained as much as possible or has been restored to its 'old' state. Combined with the contemporary interior this gives a special appearance.

Restaurants, food & wine

Burgundy is known as one of the best wine regions in the world. Famous wine villages such as Meursault, Pommard and Nuits-Saint-George are in the immediate area of the chateau. Of course you can visit the caves and taste wine. There are several attractive wine walking tours to take along these famous vineyards.

Several wine caves with restaurants offer a complete programme with a guided tour, wine tasting and then a dinner. And if you are not able to drive back after all this wining and dining we can arrange transportation for you if you wish.

Activities

There is lots to do and plenty to see in the immediate area. There are wine walking tours, cycling and mountain biking tours ( a number start on the estate). The Morvan, which is about thirty km away, has several walking and mountain biking routes (about 133 mountain biking routes over more than 2000 km). Or you could do the beautiful castle tour by car, also in the immediate area. Golf, climbing, horse riding, canoeing, rafting and quad bike riding are possible. Towns like Autun, Beaune and Dijon are definitely worth a visit.
