The house
Le Fournil is a spacious 140 m2 holiday home, consisting of a renovated old house, which when renovated was connected to the adjoining former chateau bakery .
On the ground floor, there is a stylishly furnished dining room/kitchen with stairs leading upstairs and a spacious living room restored to its original character with natural stone walls, a French ceiling, large fireplace, old baker's oven and window doors giving access to a furnished terrace, which flows into the park. The living room is very nicely furnished, also for a romantic stay in the off-season. The kitchen-diner is a real living space with a large table and 8 chairs, a wood-burning stove and all kitchen comforts for extensive cooking. As a rule, one eats here outside on the adjoining terrace.
There are three large bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom has a comfortable bed (200x180), desk, wardrobe, etc., but it is mainly its charm through its decoration that gives a pleasant look. There is also a romantic bathroom. This has a bathtub, shower and washbasin. There is another 2nd sink in a small room adjacent to the bathroom, which is separately accessible to the other users. The second bedroom contains a 160x200 double bed, furniture and a wardrobe. The last bedroom has a double bed (200x140) and wardrobe. Both bedrooms are pleasantly furnished with tables, chairs and decorations. Cots can be added.
All rooms have parquet, large French windows overlooking the furnished terrace and the chateau's surrounding park.
The living room offers fireplace, sofa, armchairs, tables, CD player, etc. This is the former bakery, built entirely of natural stone. A very special atmosphere.
There are a number of bicycles available and a barbecue. There is an extremely child-friendly and safe situation with toys, children's bikes, etc.
The park's heated swimming pool is permanently available, from 15 April to 1 Oct. The chateau's indoor pool is available if the outdoor pool is not comfortable enough. Everything is so spacious that everyone has enough privacy.

The Gîte 'le Fournil' is a historic house, recently renovated on the grounds of the Chateau de Préty. There is a lot of privacy because of the situation. This chateau is surrounded by a mature park, fully walled in with heated swimming pool (6x12m) and large terrace, a basin with fountain in a private courtyard, age-old trees, lawns and looks out over a beautiful landscape along the river Saône. Préty is a classic French village with a bakery (150m walk), a post office and a café. It is located in an area famous for its Burgundian wines and quality restaurants. Préty borders a beautiful nature reserve with forests, water (boat rental) and cycle paths.
The Saône, which borders Préty and Tournus, is a dreamy river, which lends itself to swimming, fishing or picnicking along its banks.
Tournus, 4 km away, is a typical medieval town with numerous terraces, restaurants, antique dealers and boutiques. It has old streets and squares, two museums and a thirteenth century abbey where there are also changing exhibitions of art or antiques.
In the surrounding area, besides the regular markets, there are frequent antique and flea markets.
Not far from Tournus, there are vineyards on rolling hills and numerous caves in the enclosed villages. Following the wine route, you will come across all the renowned wine houses, as well as small wine producers, where you can purchase quality wines at reasonable prices.
There are some beautiful golf courses nearby, where you will be admitted without waiting.
It is striking how original the landscape is with its chateaus, medieval towns, idyllic villages, without visible damage from modern times. The peace and quiet and the space make you feel as if you are in another time, and that within 6 hours driving distance of Brussels. This part of Burgundy has a very different climate than e.g. the Nievre; from May onwards it is pleasantly warm with very little rain, so all evenings you will be dining outside and enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere, with afterwards possibly a dive in a heated swimming pool under a starry sky.

The area, Saône et Loire, is renowned for its Burgundian cuisine and good restaurants are represented at every level. The host can advise you and possibly make reservations for you.
In the surroundings you will find numerous caves and wineries where you can taste the best Burgundian wines. It is interesting to follow the wine routes through a dreamy landscape with old castles and caves in medieval villages, like Givry, Chardonnay, Lugny, Vire-Clesse, Ige.
Activities
You can go hiking, cycling (Le Chemin vert), swimming, horseback riding, play golf (e.g. public golf course La Salle), visit chateaus, gardens, caves, museums, caves and historical cities. In the neighbouring village, La Truchère, boats can be rented. Important places to visit in the direct surroundings are Beaune, Cluny, Cormatin, Chalon, Macon, Tayzé, Louhans and Azé.

The Gîte has total privacy and the grounds are only accessible to the guests.
