La Grairie
The house
La Grairie is an independent cottage with a private garden, adjacent to the owner's house. Downstairs is an open-plan lounge and kitchen/ dining area and upstairs are the 3 bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin) and bathroom. The gite is spacious and comfortably furnished and all linens and towels are included in the price. Should you need them, there are very effective electric heaters in every room.
The garden is large and fully enclosed and leads directly to the orchard and fields beyond - it is a haven for wildlife and many birds nest in the garden and orchard. There is a small patio which faces west and there is a table and chairs and BBQ.
We provide a welcome pack for our guests.

Surroundings

La Grairie is set in a small hamlet on the edge of Saint Georges de Bohon. We are located off a very quiet track - it's busy if we see a tractor or two! - and we are surrounded by fields and networks of quiet and unspoilt lanes which make it a delightful place for walking, cycling, or just going for a wander. You are free to use the orchard and field beyond, it's a great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
We have three friendly goats and two ponies who love extra attention. Your children will have a lot of fun feeding them carrots and maybe even take the goats for a walk, or brush the ponies.
On those days when you want to explore the region, we are within easy reach of nearby towns and attractions. We have two adult-size bikes which you are free to use if you feel like exploring on 2 wheels!

Restaurants, food & wine
In Carentan you will find several good restaurants. For fresh morning bread the nearest bakery is 4km away.
Cider and Calvados are widely produced in this area of Normandie and many farms offer visits and tastings . Also, the famous Crème Fraiche d'Isigny is produced locally and tours are available.
Activities
There is plenty to do in the area, whether you are interested in outdoor pursuits or want to visit some of the local towns and attractions. There are many outdoor activities available locally, including canoeing, sailing and horse-riding to name just a few. If you are looking for beautiful beaches, you will be spoilt for choice! We are close to the D-day landing beaches and museums where you will find much history.
Carentan (7km) is our nearest town and has a lovely Monday market. Boat trips around the marsh start from here.

La Grairie with its garden and orchard is both a wonderful place to relax as well as a good location from which to explore Normandy. The direct surroundings are beautiful for walks and bike rides and the town of Carentan is only a few km away. But what we will especially remember about this vacation week is Helen's warm welcome and kindness. We hope to come back one day!
Nancy & Robert from Oss,
Beautiful and quiet place to be and enjoy the beautiful places in Normandie.
We were with 6 people and enjoyed it very much. A very warm welcome by Helen and her husband.
We cycled to the bakery every morning for fresh bread. Great living room and kitchen. Bedrooms spacy and comfortable beds. Nature is great and there is a lot to visit within an hour's drive.
Gerlof & Klaske from Scharnegoutum,
Hello Helen. Thank you for your hospitality. We had a very good time here, good weather and a lot of things to do. This has been a good place for us, for our holiday. Thank you for your warm welcome. (quoted from our Visitors' Book)
The Wellaway Family from Devon, UK,
What a lovely week we've had! After the madness of Paris, La Grairie was a welcome oasis of calm, helped by Helen's warm welcome and generous touches. The gite is spacious and well-equipped and we enjoyed making use of the BBQ and garden, walking through the orchard and meeting the ponies. We've been surprised by how much the area has to offer, helped by the information in the gite... (quoted from our Visitors' Book)
The Richardson Family from Doncaster, UK,
Your gite has been a pleasure to stay in, relaxing surroundings and a caring, helpful hostess. Hoping to see you again in the future. (quoted from our Visitors' Book)
