The house

This is an original Perigordian farm, with various outbuildings around a court. The house is completely renovated, but the old character is preserved. Downstairs a large lounge with kitchen and monumental stone fireplace. Kitchen: gas cooker with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, there is a second refrigerator outside under the roof; second garden room with well-stocked bookcase, third room: bedroom with two beds and separate room with washing machine. Upstairs: large bedroom with large double bed, bedroom with bunk beds and single bed, landing with 1-bed, bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and sink. Each bedroom has hot and cold running water. Two terraces on south and west- north-west. Lots of privacy, beautiful views and absolute silence. Garden furniture and ping-pong table. Barbeque.
In the summer there is a large off-ground pool available (4 m diameter, 70 cm high), great for children!

Restaurants, food & wine

In the villages in the area (Les Eyzies, Le Bugue, St. Cyprien and Sarlat) are weekly markets and everywhere there are restaurants serving the famous Perigordian cuisine (duck confit, foie gras, truffles). Our cottage is located in the wine region of Bergerac and the also very nearby Bordeaux wine region offers delightful wines.

Nearby are many possibilities for activities: hiking in the woods, visiting the famous prehistoric caves (Lascaux, Font de Gaume), also caves with traces of prehistoric occupation or with beautiful crystal formations, visiting old (Knight) castles, and walking in beautifully landscaped gardens. Swimming in the Dordogne and in several lakes, tennis in Les Eyzies, landscaped mountain bikes on trails, horseback riding, canoeing on the major rivers: the Vezere and the Dordogne. And if the ocean is a 'must': 3 hours drive through the vineyards of Bordeaux. In Les Eyzies is the famous National Museum of Prehistory. Outside the museum there is a show about how prehistoric knives and axes were made from a special kind of stone.

Further remarks

Shopping in Les Eyzies (4 km), even more shopping in Le Bugue (11 miles) or St. Cyprien (15 km). Sarlat (25 km) and Montignac (25 miles); two larger sites for the more sophisticated shopping and sight-seeing (eg the famous cave of Lascaux and the wonderful medieval city of Sarlat).
Within the grounds is a swing and climbing frame (max. 50 kg.) Cabins can be built, fossils are found, badminton, table tennis, football (although quite often the ball will roll of the slope) and play hide and seek, etc. The barns are authentic and there is an old farm truck. The lawn is mowed, but there are rough bushes and trees.
There should be no unsupervised children played in the barns. Children are not allowed to swim in the pool without parental supervision. Both activities are absolutely at your own risk.

In the house there is a folder with a detailed description of the operation of the various devices in the home, the maintenance of the pool and any Wifi (Wifi and phone if desired, extra charge on request). Furthermore, there are leaflets available for the many tourist attractions in the immediate vicinity.
