The beautiful hamlet of Le Fresse is surrounded by lovely countryside yet is only 5 minutes from Aubeterre Sur Dronne (one of the prettiest medieval villages in France).
Located in the picturesque Charente, it is the sunniest region of France after the Cote d’Azur - but without the high prices and crowds.

Maison Artisan is located in this small hamlet of only 13 houses and is only 10 minutes from the nearest town (Chalais) and 25 minutes from the larger town of Riberac.

Easily accessible, just over an hour from Bordeaux Airport, and 40 minutes from Angouleme airport. If you have your own aeroplane, Chalais private airfield is even nearer!

There are great opportunities to swim nearby in the lovely River Dronne where beaches have been provided for you to laze in the sun.

The magnificent seaside beaches of St. George, Royan and the Cote Sauvage are within easy reach further north.

Description

Interior

Maison Artisan is a nice cottage, two storeys on the border of the Charente, with all the comforts of home.

From the front door you enter a spacious hallway, giving access to a comfortable bedroom, a second room which contains 2 single beds and a walk-in wet room.

The first floor is spacious and open-plan with an imposing baronial fireplace.

The high ceiling and stone walls make the room cool and comfortable at any time of the day. The television receives many terrestrial stations through freeserve including radio and is also a DVD player.

The modern kichen has all you need for a comfortable stay including an electric cooker, microwave, sink, refridgerator and full range of cooking utensils.

Double doors open onto a large terrace with seating and dining area, ideal for dinner or just lazing in the sun

For young children, Maison Artisan is not suitable.

Activities

Maison Artisan is situated in a beautifull and quiet little hamlet of only 13 houses. It is ideal for single couples and a total retreat into the countryside yet close to the popular and beautiful medieval village of Aubeterre Sur Dronne. Nearby there are many interesting places to visit and things to do in the area, sleepy villages, lively towns, beaches, chateaux / wine tasting. Also, outdoor activities including hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.

If you want to swim, Aubeterre is less than 5 minutes away where the river has a beach running alongside it. Just 5 minutes in the oppposite direction St Aulaye has similar facilities.

For nightlife in the cities, Bordeaux is just over an hour and Angouleme about 40 minutes.

In the neighbourhood (max 30 minutes by car): swimming, golf, walking, riding , water sports, tennis .

Restaurants, food & wine

Near Maison Artisan are chateaux for wine tasting and restaurants of all shapes and sizes both in the countryside and in the towns. You need never go hungry in the Charante!!

Other remarks

for Markets

Aubeterre square holds a small market on a Sunday morning. Chalais holds a larger market on a Monday morning and Riberac holds a very large market on a Friday morning.

For Shops

There is a small store in Bonnes, just two kilometres from Le Fresse, a small Spar supermarket in Aubeterre and for larger shopping there is a lage supermarket and a Lidl store in Chalais.
