Lovely bright, airy, spacious ground floor holiday apartment for two with heated pool in a tranquil rural location near Jonzac in the sunny Charente Maritime. Specially designed for couples with space, privacy and home comfort in mind, the apartment has its own separate entrance (suitable for limited wheelchair access, but please check requirements with owners first) and off-street parking.
Inside, a light, airy, comfortable double bedroom (baby cot available);a large modern shower room/WC; a bright, spacious living room with 2 sofas, TV (French and English Free to view channels) DVD and CD players, games and books; a large, fully equipped modern kitchen-diner with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc. Linen and towels, hair-dryer, iron and ironing board provided plus Welcome Breakfast pack (tea, coffee, bread etc.). Wi-fi access.

Activities

Ideal place to relax and unwind or use as a base for discovering this special region; its historic towns and quaint villages, its wonderful gastronomy, wine châteaux and famous cognac houses. Only 5 minutes from the market town of Jonzac with its special thermal spas, many restaurants, bars, weekly market and all shopping amenities or Montendre with its traditional street market on Thursdays and night markets throughout the summer. Only 20 minutes from the charming medieval city of Pons.
Lots of interesting places to visit, such as Bordeaux, St Emillion, Cognac, Saintes and Angoulème, Talmont and Blaye along the estuary and the expansive golden beaches of the Atlantic coast from Royan to St Palais sur mer, all within an hour’s drive. Great opportunity to enjoy the outdoor life, many activities and water sports available in the local area and further afield, from bird watching and nature trails to kayaking, boating and sailing or more leisurely pursuits like boules/pétanque, thermal spas and wine-tasting. Just ask the owners for recommendations.

In the neighbourhood (max 30 minutes by car): climbing, swimming, golf, walking, mountain-biking, cycling, riding , water sports, tennis .

Restaurants, food & wine

All amenities, banks and shops at Jonzac. Weekly Farmers Markets at Jonzac, Pons, Montendre, Cognac where you can discover many regional specialities.
Many excellent local producers & vineyards, renowned château in the Medoc, Bordeaux, Fronsac, Blaye and Bourg, Famous Cognac houses & other producers in and around Cognac and Jarnac. Can provide recommendations.
Many excellent local restuarants nearby, including the lovely ’Coq d’or’ or ’Moulin’ for a special treat, and great country restaurants like the Auberge Le Pegasse. Wide range of cuisine and restaurants in Jonzac and Pons. Summer Night Markets are also a great opportunity to sample the regional gastronomie and wine.
