The cottage is situated in the Department the Lot.
The three large rivers of this Department are the Dordogne, the Lot and the Célé.
There are many caves, like the famous Grottes de Cougnac 6 km away.
At 8 km you find the lively, colourful village of Gourdon with it's medieval centre, many terraces, restaurants, shops and markets.
At 40 km, in Martel, you can take an old restored steam train to ride through the beautiful countryside.
Also at 40 km the city of Cahors with the renowned bridge Pont Valentré and it's 5.000 hectares of vineyards, 600 wine-merchants, various castles and wine cellars to see.
There are many markets to visit with all the regional gastronomic food specialities, antiques and flea markets(brocantes and vides-greniers), the summer music festivals and local festivities with music and dance.

Interior
This XVII Century cottage, of which the restoration was finished in March 2011, in the yellow lime stone of the Bouriane region, is situated on a terrain of 5 hectares of meadows and forests. The cottage has a very wide sitting room with a lounge chair and a double sofa-bed.
There is an original fireplace in which is placed a wood burner. Many details are authentic.
You go up the wooden stairs in the sitting room and arrive in the mezzanine with a large comfortable double bed, again with authentic stone walls and the original pigeon holes(now glazed), so typical for this region.
In the newly built extension there is a large fully equipped open kitchen.
To the side of this is the W.C. and a modern shower-room.
Through the kitchen doors you enter the open terrace of the south side of the cottage.
On the northern side, where the entrance is, there is also a large terrace.
There is terrace-furniture, a parasol, a barbecue, a radio/cd player and a wood burner

Activities
Canoeing, fishing, swimming in lakes and pools, horse-riding, footpaths(GR), pot-holing, hot air balloon flights or a light aircraft flight to view the various castles and beautiful countryside from the air.
In the neighbourhood (max 30 minutes by car): climbing, swimming, golf, walking, mountain-biking, cycling, riding , water sports, Mountain climbing, Hang-gliding, para-gliding.

the ''black diamond'' the truffle, the goat cheese ''cabécou'' de Rocamadour, geese(foie gras, confits de canard, stuffed neck of goose), high-quality lamb("Agneau fermier de Quercy" label), the walnuts(oil and alcohol), the saffron and melon of the Quercy, the wine of Cahors and the various mushrooms(cèpe, girolles, morilles).
