L’Age is a hamlet in the area named Le Pays des Feuillardiers (country of the woodcutters). At the turn of the last century there was intensive management of the sweet chestnut copices which are still evident and home to a lot of wildlife. The land is undulating and pretty, dotted with small lakes. There are excellent way-marked paths for walkers. The cities of Limoges, Angouleme and Perigueux are within an hour’s drive.

Description

Interior

Situated on the outskirts of the village, this stone building was originally built as a chestnut drying house (Cledier). Now converted into a picuresque gite it provides accommdation for 2 people. It has a salon/kitchen/diner with oak parquet floor and wood pellet stove in addition to central heating. It has a high ceiling and double doors looking out over the garden, raised terrace and distant countryside. The double bedroom is surrounded by a mezzanine with single divan over a tiled wc/shower room. There is a dvd player and screen. The garden is private and has both sun and shade from ancient elm trees. The gite has its own parking space.

In the neighbourhood (max 30 minutes by car): swimming, golf, walking, mountain-biking, riding , tennis .

Choice of Perigordian restaurants, Wine tasting (St Sornin-Charente), Cognac within a day’s drive

Other remarks

There is a shared swimming pool positioned well away from the gite so there is no disturbance for non-pool users. From the well exposed, redwood cedar deck of the pool there is a long view over a pond, valley and fields where Limousin cattle graze.
We, the owners are resident on site, separated from the gite by a detached stone barn. Please contact me for information on a winter let.
