la Petite Ecurie is situated on the edge of the hamlet of Vrigny, in the commune of St. Georges sur Cher. The gite is set in the grounds of la Roseraie de Vrigny, with its large, shady rose-filled garden, bordered by a small stream. There are views over the large meadow on the other side of the stream, which forms part of the property, where deer are frequent visitors. Red squirrels are often seen in the garden, which is also home to many birds, including great-spotted and green woodpeckers, and the occasional hoopoe. The gite has its own small, enclosed garden. Sunshade, barbecue and outdoor furniture are provided. Car parking is in the enclosed courtyard of la Roseraie.
Description
Interior
la Petite Ecurie was originally a stable for three working horses. It is light and airy, with walls of natural stone. The ground floor living room has modern pine furniture including comfortable Danish armchairs; a well-equipped kitchenette with two electric hobs, refrigerator, microwave and conventional ovens, coffee machine and toaster. A spiral staircase leads to the pretty bedroom with exposed beams, double bed, chest of drawers and hanging space, and en-suite shower room with basin and wc. Washing machine, etc., are situated in the adjacent laundry room of la Roseraie. Heating is provided by electric convector radiators. Bed-linen and towels are included in the rental.

Activities
Vrigny is an excellent starting point for exploring the Chateaux of the Loire, with Chenonceau only 5 km distant and Amboise, the last home of Leonardo da Vinci, within 20 minutes’ drive. There is excellent walking through the adjacent vines, along the banks of the river Cher and through the forests of Amboise and Montrichard. A swimming pool and an attractive beach with cafe/bar and boating facilities on the river can be found at Montrichard (6 km) Trips by hot air balloon (Montgolfiere) and ULM to view the chateaux of the Loire are available locally. Thre is a golf course at Chaumont-sur-Loire.
In the neighbourhood (max 30 minutes by car): swimming, golf, walking, riding , tennis .
Restaurants, food & wine
St. Georges-sur-Cher (1km) has a small Sunday morning market, grocery store, bakery, butcher and pharmacy. There are also several wine-growers in the commune offering free tastings and the opportunity to buy their products. Montrichard (6 km) has an excellent market every Friday morning. This lively and interesting mediaeval and Renaissance small town, with its attractive main street of small specialist shops, also has several good supermarkets and excellent bakeries, and a lively and colourful market every Friday. Excellent restaurants are situated in Montrichard, Chenonceaux and other nearby villages.
Other remarks
The city of Tours, with its mediaeval town centre, cathedral, museums, theatre and airport with regular cheap flights from London Stansted, Porto and Marseilles, is 35 km away by autoroute A85. Paris is less than one hour away by TGV from St. Pierre des Corps, on the outskirts of Tours. Tours and St. Pierre des Corps can be reached on the local train from Montrichard.
