The house is located near the hamlets of La Paonne Quatres Les Vents and Pierre Seche. The last mile a winding road will bring you up to the house ...... and that is what makes this place special: it is high, so great views and a wonderful spacious feeling. The large garden is fully fenced, ideal for families with children and/or pets. The balcony overlooks the meadows, woods and lake Pannecière which is 1,5 km away. It is the biggest and best fishing lake of the Morvan. The species are diverse due to the cliffs, trees, hills and flooded remains of ancient villages before the lake was created by the dam. You are at the heart of the regional park of Morvan.
Chaumard The village is 1,5 km away. There is a post office, tourist information, restaurant with terrace and a shop which sells groceries and fresh bread. In Chateau Chinon (14 km), the capital of the Morvan, you will find several shops and supermarkets (Lidl and Atac). Every Saturday morning there is a small market with delicious fresh fruit and vegetables.

Description

Interior

La Paonne is suitable for 4 persons and a baby / toddler. In the house you will find: the lounge with French doors leading to garden, 3 seater sofa, chairs, coffee table, dresser, DVD player, woodstove and and area, with a cupboard as room divider, which has a large double bed with duvet. A staircase takes you into the small lounge with dining area, two armchairs, woodstove and patio doors to the balcony on the south. From here you can walk into the garden. The house is very accessible for the disabled, because everything is on the ground floor, apart from the staircase leading to the small lounge. Next to the small lounge is the kitchen with stove, fridge, oven, coffee maker, coffee etc. And behind the kitchen is a small room with wash basin and WC. The bedroom has a double and a single bed with duvets. The bathroom has a shower, bathtub and wash basin. There is a lot of garden furniture as well as a high chair, cot, play materials for children, garden kit for children and a rubber boat. There are many DVDs, comic books and games available.

Activities

The "Parc Naturel Regional du Morvan" is a nature reserve in central France.
There are a number of (resevoir) lakes. The largest lake is Pannecière.
Along the entire 520 ha. one finds a landscape of valleys, shores, forests and villages. The clear water is a paradise for swimmers and fishermen. The area is teeming with trails for both hikers and mountain bikers.
Westward you will find cities like Nevers (70 km) and Paris (300 km).
Eastward Autun (50 km), Dijon (120 km), Beaune (100 km).
Closer lie, for example: Vezelay, Avalon, Corbigny, Lormes and Saulieu.
In summer there are every week flea and / or antique markets in the area.
It is an ideal area for nature lovers and people who want to be active, such as walkers, cyclists, swimmers, mountain bikers, surfers, sailors, etc.
But for those who like tranquility and want to retreat with a good book and a nice glass of wine it is the ideal environment. If you love art and culture, Morvan is also a perfect loaction.
Past: castles, churches, museums and the archaeological centre Bibracte.
Present: the Temple of 1000 Buddhas, festivals, flea markets and the waterfalls of Gouloux.

In the neighbourhood (max 30 minutes by car): climbing, swimming, golf, walking, mountain-biking, riding , water sports.

Restaurants, food & wine

The Burgundy wines are world famous.
The Grand Cru Burgundy from Chambertin, Corton and Montrachet have enchanted many wine lovers. And what about a tingling Crémant de Bourgogne also known as "soft champagne". Perhaps you are more fond of Chablis and Pouilly-Fumé? In one day you can drive up and down to the wine villages. Famous local products: Charolais, honey, blackberries and blueberries, cheeses, game, walnut oil, mushrooms, tureens of the Morvan, trout, pike, etc.

La Paonne is for rent from April to November. Other periods on request.
The house can accommodate up to 4 people and baby or toddler.
We ask you to leave the house clean and ready to use for the next tenants.
